Summer Sampler

I'm very pleased to announce that Charlie Bury has joined the Brew Hoop team and will be contributing regularly to the site; his first post is below. You may know Charlie from his work at DraftExpress, where his interviews included Bucks Director of Player Personnel Dave Babcock as well as Danny Granger, Jameer Nelson, Martell Webster, Ryan Gomes, and Beno Udrih. He was also the first person to ever make the mistake of having me as a guest on his radio show. Welcome, Charlie!

Preparation for the NBA Vegas Summer League begins next Monday at the Cousins Center. Look for 2008 draft picks Joe Alexander and Luc Richard Luc Richard Mbah a Moute to join Ramon Sessions and a host of fringe players with NBA experience hoping to get back into the league.  Check out the Bucks' schedule here.

Brew Hoop has your first look at the rest of the early summer league roster, which is expected to include:

Darius Washington, 6'1" G. Washington spent parts of last season with the San Antonio Spurs and the Greek league.

Rawle Marshall, 6'7" G-F , Marshall is a two year NBA veteran with the Mavericks and Pacers who most recently competed in Serbia.

Matt Freije,  6'10" F.  Freijie is a two-year veteran with the Hornets and Hawks who recently played his ball in Puerto Rico last season.

Olumide Oyedeji, 6'10" PF-C. A Nigerian big man with three years of NBA experience playing for the Sonics and Magic, Oyedeji most recently competed in the Spanish league.

John Thomas, 6'9" PF. A well traveled veteran who has played for six different teams over his four year NBA career, Thomas most recently with the New Jersey Nets during the 05/06 campaign.

The rest of the team is yet to be determined.

Ersan Ilyasova is still working out in Milwaukee, but will not participate in the summer league due to responsibilities with the Turkish National team. Ilyasova and Turkey will take on Michael Redd and Team USA in an exhibition game on July 31st.

Ilyasova remains a hot commodity in Europe, where his club AXA FC Barcelona "Wants him back badly" according to one source with intimate knowledge of the  situation. Ilyasova has an opt out clause if he wishes to return to the NBA with no buyout penalty  and a player option if he wants to  return to Barcelona next season.
