Gil's Mil Ill Will

Found this nugget buried a few hundred words down in Gilbert Arenas' latest blog post on NBA.com:

Richard Jefferson going to Milwaukee …. HAHAHA! Oh man, now that is funny. When I heard that, I started laughing. Oh man, did I start laughing. You know why? Because every player hates Milwaukee. Nobody wants to live in Milwaukee. I’m sorry, Milwaukee, to come down hard on you, but no one in the NBA wants to play in Milwaukee. From him going from New Jersey, actually from New York (because he lives in New York), from New York to Milwaukee is like going … let’s just say it’s not going to sit well with you. That was a funny one when I heard that one. I know Yi is happy though.

This stings even more considering the context of the story: Arenas wildly praises about half (exaggeration added for emphasis) the cities on the planet before the Milwaukee diss. Gil gets a pass on this one because like Jason Terry and Damon Stoudamire, he's an Arizona guard I've always enjoyed watching. Not sure if the rest of Bucks Nation will agree when the Wiz visit the BC.

And in the $111 million range, there might be some lakefront property attractive even to Gilbert.

eff em

yo f*ck that gilbert. Hey why don’t you try playing an entire season and then talk shit. Oh yeah, and next time, think about gaurding Ramon Sessions, cause he’ll pop one in your face when ever he feels like it.

Man Pete can we keep it clean? Also it’s “guard” not “gaurd”...or did they not teach you that in private school?

Yeah Gilbert’s comments hurt a little. I guess that’s why we had to pay Simmons $9 mill a year to come to town. Or switching sports, why the Crew had to overpay for Ben McDonald, Jeff Hammonds, Eric Gagne etc. Man it gets cold there in the winter! Mitchell I’m right with you—why do you think I moved?

However, if we make smart decisions drafting/in free agency, players will give us a break (sort of). Redd, Mo, and Bogut all signed after we turned them into legit players. Granted we could offer more money than other teams, but still, the way that Gilbert talks it sounds like money isn’t even an issue. Remember Redd turned down playing with LeBron in his hometown. Mo turned down the much more attractive city of Miami and playing with Shaq and DWade.

We always knew we never had the leverage of a big city or the unlimited budget of the Knicks or Lakers, so these comments don’t shock me. We just need to make smart decisions in our scouting/management decisions—something that Hammond knows all about working for the Pistons.

I mean seriously, who wants to live in Detroit? :)

I think we all know Milwaukee isn’t a top destination for NBA players, but the weird part to me is how mean-spirited it is. RJ and Gilbert are both Arizona guys, so you wonder if there’s some history between them or if Gilbert is just joking with him.

Obviously Gilbert is obsessed with getting attention wherever he goes, so my hope is actually that people don’t use this as a reason to boo him. Because that’s exactly what he wants. If you want to get back at Gilbert, just ignore him.

You dont want to boo Agent Zero when the Wizards come to Milwaukee. Bucks fans should know just as good as any other teams fans. Remember this:
