C.C. Sabathia!...and how it relates to the Bucks

First of all, happy C.C. Day to all other Brewers fans out there. I know this is a Bucks blog but still, couldn't hold in the excitement of getting a Cy Young winner.

Anyway, this trade made me look back on the Bucks Gary Payton trade a few years back. Like Payton, C.C. has an expiring deal, and it seems likely he could leaave after half a season like GP did. I'm interested if anyone else sees the paralel between this trade and the Bucks former trade. Do you think the Brewers season will end like the Bucks season did? Since it is summer, I thought some Brew crew chat mixed with some Bucks wouldn't hurt.

Smitty, that was the first thing I thought of…fortunately the Brewers didn’t have to give up any proven big league talent to make the deal happen, though it’s tough to see LaPorta go. At the same time, given the lack of a cap/Bird rules in MLB, the Brewers have even less of a chance of retaining C.C. than the Bucks had with Payton. We better enjoy him while it lasts.

I think the deal makes sense when you consider that they stand a good chance to lose Sheets as well…the window for winning a title could shrink next year even with all the talent we have.

Meanwhile, no one is really talking about Jefferson, who I thought had a good press conference today.

I like his honesty.

He said he was upset initially because he wanted to stay a Net for his career. That kind of loyalty is hard to find. I think he’ll be committed to Milwaukee just as much, if Milwaukee stays committed to him. This was no mailed-in press conference, with lip service paid to the media. I think he said exactly what he was thinking.

These two moves seem almost the opposite of each other. Sabathia was brought in as a temporary measure for a big push, Jefferson was brought in to be a big piece of the puzzle for the Bucks for a few years.

I will miss Jarrett Jack, but getting Jerryd Bayless is helping ease my pain.

Technically it's just CC not C.C.

He changed it.

The dynasty that should be the Arizona Diamondbacks.
