Best Bucks Bars

I am new to Milwaukee and I was looking for some good Bucks bars.

Do you guys have any good recommendations for the best places go for pre and post games? Does anybody have a good drink specials near the Bradley Center?

Beyond that are there any good places around downtown that  has a decent atmosphere for road games?

Thanks,
Brian

There aren't any

Actual Bucks fans are not easy to find, so we all pretty much stay home. I can’t ever get the bartender to put the Bucks on the TV. Pisses me off sometimes.

Be cool, and relax. Take a breath, take ten paces back.

Interesting post and I'll be keeping an eye on it...

As a Bucks fan from Kansas City, the only reason I’ve ever visited Milwaukee is to go to Bucks games. We usually just go into whatever bar looks alright at the time, but if there was a “Bucks bar” to go to, we’d definitely check it out.

Side note: This year’s trip slated for March 26-28 (vs. MIA and MEM)

How did you become a Bucks fan?

Not that KC isn’t a hotbed for Bucks fans :)

Never followed the NBA until '08

Been an avid college basketball fan my whole life and for no good reason other than not having a team, just never paid attention to the NBA. I follow NFL as well as college FB, why not the NBA as well as college BB? I needed a team and I’m one of these guys that hates crappy bandwagon fans. Honestly I liked that the Bucks appear to be attempting a re-build (A LOT like both the Chiefs and the Royals) so it would give me and the Bucks both a chance to “start fresh”

It’s also not too terribly far of a drive. Went to two games last year and had a great time. Saw the Bucks knock off the Celtics which was great. Not really easy to follow an NBA team from here, but Brewhoop helps a lot!

There’s actually a group of about 5 or 6 of us that did this together.

I'm no expert, but...

All the years going to Bucks games I’ve almost never gone out around the BC before or after—and that’s kind of one of the fundamental problems with the BC. Major Goolsby’s is more of your traditional sports bar with TVs and bar food. Turner’s is right across the street if you’re looking for dinner and less of a typical sports bar feel. Otherwise I haven’t really explored much.

Dude, the Bradley Center is blocks away from Water Street, one of the more vibrant booze strips in Milwaukee. Simply go a few blocks East of the BC and you’ll run into a plethora of decent bars. Post-game, I’ve run into cheerleaders at a couple of bars and I know a few friends who have seen players from afar. Around town you can find a variety of places, each area has it’s niche bars. Long Wong’s, Axel’s, BW3’s, Major Goolsby’s, look around and you’ll find it. Most bars won’t be Bucks themed, but you’ll be able to find a group in any sports bar.

Also, hit up Benjy’s, Pizza Man, Beans & Barley, Pizza Shuttle and La Perla for good eats.

Post and Pre Game Regular

There is a solid group of us, almost all of which are RealGM members, that can be found at a small number of places.

Frequently before games we’re at Scooters on Juneau/Water, because they have cheap drinks. Nothing special there, but you can usually watch ESPN/TNT before a game and talk basketball with one of us.

Afterwards we frequent Fitzgibbons, Bootleggers, and Buckhead because of the deals. Again, none of those are real sports bars, but they all have a discount of some form.

There is typically a thread at RealGM talking about the game. Feel free to ask around there and you’ll be able to meet up with us.

Fitzgibbons is a great place, check out this address

Sports Illustrated mentioned Major Goolsby’s in their Super Bowl preview issue in ’05.

Bootleggers on Friday

The aforementioned Bootleggers is having a viewing party on Friday for the road opener. Dan posted all the details here:

Another great place to enjoy the Bucks is the Harp.

http://www.theharpirishpub.com! I’ve heard of the Harp from a friend, along with Fitzgibbons, they’re both great.

Fitzgibbon's has a post-game deal

If you go to Fitzgibbons after a Bucks game with a ticket stub, you get a BOGO drink deal. Never been personally, but it’s a local radio promotion they talk about all the time.

Fans in Lower Bowl

Who is that boisterous group in the lower bowl, and how do you get tickets in their section? Do they do any kind of pre-game ritual?
