Lineup Shuffle: Jodie Meeks starts, Bell off the bench

It's about time we bring in Jodie Meeks to the starting lineup and move Charlie Bell to the bench. Charlie Bell doesn't have enough offensive weapons to bring into the starting lineup. Bell is a proven bench player who can provide a spark with the second unit. Give Jodie a few starts so the rookie can play ball and show what he can do on the court. In his Junior season the Kentucky Shooting Guard, Meeks, averaged 23.7 points per game including a game of 54 against rival Tennessee. He is a proven athlete who scored 40 percent of his three point attempts last season at Kentucky.

Works for me

My only reservation is that Meeks hasn’t shown any consistency; it’d be easier if he put together a few good games in a row before he got the nod to start. His minutes as is are irregular, so just getting him some consistent minutes off the bench would be a nice start. Plus there’s something to be said for having a defensive guy next to Jennings to start games, though Meeks is better in that department than, say, Redd.

But I don’t think we have much to lose…

I also agree, give the “other” rookie a chance. Jennings has been successful partly because he has been given the green light to shoot. Known shooters need minutes and to touch the ball consistently and in rhythm and Meeks has been inconsistent because of inconsistency in minutes and not getting the ball at times when in the game. There is definitely nothing to lose, try starting Meeks a few games and see what happens. I think it would definitely help us get off to a good start. I also think it would help our offense to have another shooter/scorer in the game. Many times our offense dies because both our point guards and forwards hold the ball looking for their shot instead having good ball movement.

the downside of Stack

Seems like we’ll have to wait until next year before Meeks gets a legit chance…
