Does Something Smell Fishy
obviously its happened alot before a middling talent (at best) turns one semi productive play off series, where the stars align, the team matchup/injuries/desperation/not being able to sign anyone else with a pulse anymore dictate that they get minutes, into suckering some GM into locking them into a contract that 6 months later has everyone shaking their heads and wondering what's going on..........round of applause Bison Dele, Austin Croshere, Jerome James(yikes), Tim Thomas(cmon), Sasha Vujacic, James Posey to lesser extents just because that contract is a real killer
Just Say No
This season it looks like a good play off series, im locking it in, from Salmons will push him into that catergory where he has the potential to get one of those deals, maybe im being a bit harsh maybe not its debatable but thats the point
who else is on that list for such a deal
Matt Barnes- this years Dahntay Jones? the media/self confessed Kobe stopper
Raymond Felton-I liked how someone compared him to the bug that Larry Brown cant squash, ouch
any others?

it is like 5.6 mill i think...
i think he will opt out considering the uncertainty with the cba and the fact so many teams have cap room this year…..
The Bulls didn't think he was going to opt out

playsoffs could determine it
I think if he is smart, which seemingly is the case, he will put out the feelers and realise hey i’m 30, im a good fit here, my options have narrowed now that Isaiah & Mike are not GM’s anymore probably better to do a Boozer and not opt out
having said that if he has a clutch playoff series and the Buck’s when a series, thats get you some press and attention it could be tempting to try and catch a desperate GM who just missed out on a top tier free agent and now has a ton of cap space………hello Clippers? Minnesota?
anyway i root for the Bonzi method, tear it up in the playoffs, get the nice contract offer, have your head so far up yourself, think your worth more, don’t sign it, hit the free agency market and have to end up signing for change
guess it depends on a few things I guess if he has a strong play offs that could play on his decision…..figures to try and get a contract before the CBA thing goes down. Not sure how that will pan out, guys had a hard time earning any offers last off season.
he might also decide he has a good thing going with the bucks and like you said not opt out.
Im kinda leaning either way regarding Salmons when it comes to a contract, 95% rule applies I think…you shouldnt make the deal
Shaq
just a feeling.

as much as I want to A) laugh b) cant believe what im typing
Johan Petro….
also Im assuming someone is going to way way overpay Boozer
David Lee
D’Antoni product. Let Chicago sign him. “We need a presence underneath. With David Lee/Jokin’ Noah (or the Flo Ridas), we’re going to be unstoppable on the break.” Not quite…
Chicks Dig The Long Ball.
lotsa finincial pain, not much gain
Tyrus Thomas is restricted………………im not sure what Charlotte figure to do with him, firstly they have to decide on Felton, id be inclined to just let him go, and Larry Brown seems to be more interested in reuniting his old philly team
as for Thomas himself does he realise he is even in a contract year? thats what’s maybe the most scary….but what he is avg 11/7 with charlotte and blocking nearly 2 shots a game, and what he is using about 3/5ths of his talent
ha Im sure whomever signs Boozer, Lee, Gay as their marquee signing………watchout im thinking Turkoglu how much are these guys going to be looking for 8-10 milliom over 5 years just say no unless your chicago do it doi it
Id almost be more inclined to over pay Thomas than any of the others because maybe down the future he gets it together and suddenly he looks like a great deal, dont see how any of the others are going to improve
Very curious to see how the market shakes out. While I think teams will be more paranoid than ever before about giving away big contracts to non-superstars, there’s also a ton of pressure on GMs with cap space to do something with it.

definitely alot underpressure
yes, I think Toronto have just shot themselves in the foot want a manual on how to drive your star player away look up Toronto……geez they were a disgrace against OKie at home was just horrible to see
I think once the big three-four LBJ, Wade, Bosh, then guys like Joe Johnson, Boozer, Stoudemire are off the board……the teams that win are the ones that can hold their nerve till people start getting desperate…if you start paying guys like Rudy Gay, David Lee 9-10 million a season hand over the keys already
what could be interesting is whats brewing in Portland with KP and his GM role…….say Philly or LA, Nets snap him up as GM will be interesting
im just praying Minnesota wins the lottery for the potential comedy
almost forgot................
Kenny Thomas comes off the books at choke nearly 9 million, and GM’s just use this as a reminder think once, no think twice, no think 365 times before you sign that deal and then say no thanks………
by the way who gave out that contract I cant recall, or i have just suppressed them & buried them away and I wont remember without years of therapy
also Scola is restricted he is currently at 3 million now thats a contract I can fall for everytime….the one the Spurs let get away all that RC Buford touches does not turn to gold…..Id be interested to see what he can get on the market he is 30 this year 15/9 couple of assists, plays hard, an doesnt take bad shots, guy put up 44 pts on 20-25 shooting aye carumba
