Ridnour signs with T-wolves

just read on yahoo that my boy, luke ridnour has signed a 4 year, 16 million $$ deal with the t-wolves....ha you know what this means...sessions is going to be sitting on the bench more and more.  i know some of you around here really like sessions, but i for one never did.  guy cant shoot a jump shot, turns the ball over alot, and doesnt play defence.  so my question is who do we bring in now that luke is not out there....maybe travis deiner??  any thoughts??

I'd be surprised if JH signs a re-tread PG to backup BJ....

I don’t think he’d trust a scrap-heap PG to run the show when BJ isn’t on the floor…. especially after all the moves he has made

I’d guess he makes a trade

by victor s on Jul 14, 2010 1:53 PM CDT reply actions

Collison?

Well there is NO one in SL who is good enough to get water for BJ3?
I wanna see them package someone and go after Darren Collison in New Orleans?
Paul, is there franchise player. there gonna re-sign him, Collison is getting better and will command more money next year…it wouldn’t hurt to make a pitch?. Maybe we could lure Collison? If not…I want an international player!
I would do (Bucks BAE) + (Jackson) + (Moute or Ersan) for Collison
He’s a good PG, and I really think he could command more on the market!
New Orleans needs Cap relief and
Because we have this logjam @ the 4…we can afford it.
What do you say?
I don’t think there is a better PG out there right now…I don’t wanna see Diener or James…they both suck…they both are a waste of minutes…

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 3:46 PM CDT reply actions

If Hammonds doesn't swing a trade

I think it’ll be Royal Ivey. He’s nothing to get excited about, but I’m fine with him playing 15 min/game.

by ZV on Jul 14, 2010 6:54 PM CDT reply actions

Hammonds needs to make the Back up a priority!

We need DEPTH at the PG spot! We need someone “good” to fill that spot…no scrubs or has beens…Someone to CHALLENGE Jennings, someone “good enough” talent wise to be BREATHING down his neck for HIS job…that’s how GOOD we need to be at the back up! We can’t just do this to fill the roster spot! I know you guys are thinking Jennings is “Mighty Mouse” and everything…But if Jennings went down, which could EASILY happen because people will try to take him out because of his cockiness like last year, trying to mix it up with player’s like “Big Baby” who would flat out, knock him and his little ass the hell out!!!! Or the other scenario, he just won’t be durable enough to last for some reason!…Could we survive with Anthony Goldwire and Cliffton “Reese” Gaines type PG’s STARTING and in the back up spot?.. You guys will say we will make a trade if it comes down to that!…Why should we trade our wealth when we can get depth before the season begins for a much cheaper rate? I don’t know about the rest of you, but a waiver wire starter & back up is not going to help us!

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 7:25 PM CDT reply actions

"Challenge "Jennings?

I think you underestimate Jennings’ potential. A lot. Unless we get an all star point guard he’s the best we got.

Yes, CHALLENGE Jennings because I am sorry to say this…But Jennings is not that good YET…his ass got benched a lot last year in case you forgot! He started this year in a act of good faith by Hammond. Ridnour was BETTER during training camp! But HE GOT BENCHED when he would SCREW up which was a lot!
ESPECIALLY during the playoffs when he was going “0 for FOREVER” with broke assed jumper after broke assed jumper…Jennings, is being “SHELTERED” right now by Hammonds IN CASE YOU HAVEN’T NOTICED…because WE do not really know what we have with Jennings YET! That is why I would say something like that!
He was living off of his 55 point game nearly the whole year!

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 7:32 PM CDT reply actions

SHELTERED

SHELTERED…yes, SHELTERED…because if we got a taller, stronger, more athletic point say a Darren Collison or a Roddy Beaubois on this team or even a vet via trade like Tony Parker…Do you think Jennings would be the starter on this team if he had to battle for his job? Ridnour was better than him during camp…He got the starter job as a way of Hammond being able to throw something at him in case he were to blow up and become good…it was all so that he can say that he took a chance on him!
If the BUCKS got some total scrub to back up the point…it would make our second team weak…and it would SHELTER Jennings from believing he actually sucked!

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 7:38 PM CDT reply actions

Jennings

Alot of you guys are some “homers” when it comes to Jennings!

I own his jersey, but I will admit his flaws.

-He defense was horrible last year, he looked a lot like Dominic James RIGHT NOW, getting screened, and dumped by Big’s to the ground. He can’t stay in front of his man on D. He would get burned quite often!

- He was so prissy, he was scared to dunk on fast breaks! He was scared that he would get hurt. And realistically he would have trying to go up on anyone last year!

- He looked like TJ Ford without the handles, or the shot!.TJ could get to the hole! Jennings is small and weak, It was always “feast or famine” with him…he was never consistent all year. He even twittered about “Quiting his shooting”.. You loved him when he was hitting his shots…and couldn’t stand him when he was playing in the playoffs riding the pine because we couldn’t get a shot off for 8 minutes in a quarter like we did!
 Now tell me about Jennings!!!!!

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 7:50 PM CDT reply actions

I can answer all of this in one word:

Rookie.

by Speedingtime on Jul 14, 2010 7:55 PM CDT up reply actions

Rookie this...

I got something else I could say, rather than "Rookie’
We ran with what we had! Ridnour realistically WON the starting job last year, Ridnour is a back up on any other team.
Hammond did this all because if Jennings didn’t start opening night, Hammond would catch flack for his draft record, New York would have felt justified for taking Jordan Hill with the pick. And Milwaukee would have been on him like white on rice!

I know I should just ignore his postings, but he’s really polluting brewhoop with his uneducated nonsense…. not to mention that the genius posted a fake story…. and that alone should get him the boot, IMO.

In 2009…Keith Bogans… Left via free agency…Tyronne Lue…Left via trade…Ramon Sessions left because Hammond would match MIN offer sheet…Leaving only Ridnour and the pick up of drafting Jennings

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:07 PM CDT reply actions

Explain to me how Jennings got to start OTHER than how I broke it down…Frank, ban this dude…he needs to spend some more time @ Chammp’s Americana learning his Bucks trivia…not me…

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:09 PM CDT reply actions

It's not really the fake story that kills me....

It’s the overall lack of any thing intelligent or objective…. there’s nothing worse than a fool who’s convinced that he’s smart

I mean… he thinks Ivey is better than BJ because he’s taller – and he also thinks Gallon is the next Shaq…… those thoughts alone should get him banned ; )

by victor s on Jul 14, 2010 8:12 PM CDT reply actions

You need “Hooked on Phonics”

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:13 PM CDT reply actions

Your a BJ3 homer. I explained why I think Gallon would make the opening roster over Sanders. I said because of his size, the logjam at PF, Gallon is the closest thing to Shaq we have
And I did not say that Ivey was better if you go back and read what I wrote!

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:15 PM CDT reply actions

Because unless a trade is made… his growth would be impeded because he would get no minutes!
You can’t send Ersan or LRMAM back down to Ft. Wayne…Sanders is the only one at this point in his career who can go down… and BENEFIT from it…Sanders is raw…He is not ready yet…You need a PG and a C at this point…Gallon makes sense because of his size!

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:18 PM CDT reply actions

But Marko

Don’t you think Sanders can create mismatches because of his quickness?

I'm taking my talents to.......The Golden Arches!

by CanadaBucks on Jul 14, 2010 8:24 PM CDT up reply actions

LRMAM is not going to go to the 3, we would have done it last year all ready if that were so…I feel he is better there..but it’s not going to happen..he is currently the BEST defender on our team! Larry Sanders is a project a year or two…who knows…because of our depth at the 4 he is not going to see any minutes…Hammond does NOT want a guy like Sanders playing only 7 minutes in game game…How will he develop seeing so little time?
He’s gonna go to Ft. Wayne because 235 is too small to play C…and Sanders is not a point!
Gallons got like 60 pounds on him…he looks more and more like he’s gonna get a roster spot because then we can use him to back up Bogut!
ENOUGH SAID

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:25 PM CDT reply actions

Would you play Sanders when you just OVERPAYED for Gooden?

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:29 PM CDT up reply actions

I've always thought that that

No matter how much you pay for a player, you need to play him the way you want to No “We have to play him more because we’re playing him more!” You use him the way that works for your team. That’s just the way I view it.

If Sanders is a star

You overpaid Gooden. If he is a bust not the case. I’ll defend JH on this move he couldn’t take a chance on a rookie

by CanadaBucks on Jul 14, 2010 8:32 PM CDT up reply actions

That’s what I am saying Gooden looks like a good move…an overpaid good move…
Sanders needs more time…

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:34 PM CDT up reply actions

I understand your point

Don’t agree with it but understand where you are coming from. I think that they’ll work Sanders in slowly like used to be the case with rookies, if he can’t handle it maybe the D-League is the place for him.

I'm taking my talents to.......The Golden Arches!

by CanadaBucks on Jul 14, 2010 8:28 PM CDT up reply actions

LRMAM played the power forward because we didn't have anyone else that Skiles wanted to start there

I think he easily could play the 3. And not all big men need to be 260 pounds.

LRMAM is not an offensive player…you need your 3 stroking…that’s why Delfino is starting…and you got Maggette…

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:30 PM CDT up reply actions

That's why Maggette would in the end play more minutes then him.

Sanders being quick.

Maybe…Maybe not…Eastern conference has all the BIG monster center that will bang you if they can’t burn you…SHAG…Z…Dampier.. big centers are in our cenfrence…I would say we could possibly…though I am not certain..START Sanders if we were in the West!

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:27 PM CDT reply actions

Sanders like it or not…is the odd man out unless a trade is made… We got a problem at the PG spot…I don’t want a waiver wire filler player…I want someone who will CHALLENGE BJ3…so, I can END the discussion I am battling on the other end with all of these Jennings HOMERS…

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:32 PM CDT reply actions

We're not "homers"

He’s a 20 year old who isn’t far removed from high school. He has a lot of room to grow. Why should we expect him to be perfect in his first year.

Let's give BJ a chance

I’ll think you’ll see a different guy this year, he won’t feel the need to score. Drive and dish or kick-out, take the open shots etc….I think shooting %s up, assists up, ppg maybe down a bit.

Other picks taken in the TOP ten have been!
Like it or not he has that stigma on him to people who judge the careers of players.
Top 10 players have to BE good.
If not, there BUSTS…Jennings NEEDS competition!
Jennings needs a quality back up to make him prove his worth!

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:36 PM CDT reply actions

What’s wrong with making sure we get the things we need in a small market like milwaukee?
Why do we herald all of these so so players…and talk about them like they are Jordan?

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 8:40 PM CDT reply actions

no one does that...

people are clearly excited at BJ’s potential… no one ever acted like he was jordan… we merely acted like he is a really good 20-year old pg with a lot of upside in a town that hasn’t had much basketball success in a while…

by Superelkman on Jul 14, 2010 8:42 PM CDT up reply actions

Wait I'm confused, who's talking about our players being like Jordan?

Jennings...and my opinion of him!

Our back up to Jennings should be trying to take Jennings job at a moments notice because we are a small market like Milwaukee..I am not conviced YET that Jennings will be anything more than a good player…another one of those players in the tradition of Milwaukee history along the lines of like a Robinson, a Baker, Cummings…good players but NOT a star or TOP ten…like he was drafted!

Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade, 10
And yet the menace of the years
Finds, and shall find, me unafraid.

I am the master of my fate: 15

It is the ECONOMICS…the size of the team we have, the marketability…and the desperate NEED for quality to COMPETE in this league when your a team like Milwaukee that makes this an issue…I feel Jennings is being carried right now, SHELTERED by Hammonds…and that is why he didn’t get the respect he got FROM THE LEAGUE. The numbers were not there, his skill level was not there! He did not win the starting job last year to Ridnour. (Hammond gave it to him!) Ridnour was a “good sport” and that is why he got REWARDED with the contract that he commanded from Minnesota! He did NOT wanna play behind Jennings, because if he did, he would have stayed. If I were Ridnour, I wouldn’t wanna play behind a guy that I beat out for the job during training camp! I shot a better FG% and I carried this team when Skiles BENCHED the rookie…why would I wanna play behind Jennings? (That is Ridnours thinking!)

by Marko Schmidt on Jul 14, 2010 9:00 PM CDT reply actions

DO you for one SECOND think about Ridnours CONTRACT??!?
It is evident that SESSIONS OR Al Jefferson is the CLEAR-cut solution at PG.
Bogut will never get MINUTES in the D-League and thus all HOPE is lost!!! He doesn’t even wanna PLAY in THE D-League. PLUS, Predator would never leave HIS Cloaking device so he would for sure BEAT Paul and LeBRON with ninja stars!!! Tiny Gallon will PLAY the 5 this year because SKILES coaches the BUCKS and they are IN Milwaukee!!!!

I can tell you right now

Had not BJ came to Milwaukee, we would be stuck where we’ve been for a long time. Whenever I mentioned the Bucks, people would laugh and I’d get the usual “Nobody cares about the Bucks!”mantra. We’ve still got a ways to go to compete with the Packers and Brewers, but it’s progress. Which is reason 1,297 why Marko is wrong.

Moving for money - I sometimes don't get it!

Why woulkd you move for a bit extra cash to a team that will be totally crap, and still not be the starting PG?
I would think staying at a team that had a good last season and is building for perhaps a better one, that you would stay and hopefully be part of the success.

This is one aspect I don’t get about US sports, in Australian Rules Football, it is the exception, not the ruke that players will change clubs for more money, it will more likely that players will take a pay cut just to keep a successful team together, so they can extend their window of success.

For Luke to sign with Min and to be “still” the back up PG does not make any sense to me.

Maybe I am just a bit backward being from down under!

What is interesting to me

Is that when some guys actually do take less money (i.e., a little under a max deal) to play together, they are vilified.

Eagerly awaiting SBN Madison.

there is still that stigma in AFL that your a mercernary if you take more money and leave your club

and the majority of top players value that one club player reputation still…..which it makes it pretty appealing knowing that you can follow your team and watch your players develop over their career at one club

do you think that will slightly change with the advent of FA? Mostly its the 2nd tier players that move and thats mostly for more game time and opportunity most often not for monetary reasons

"That," says LeBron, "is for everyone that watches me play. They witness something special. You're all a witness."
