What should we do with Michael Redd??
Everyone on here knows very well just how short of an amount of time Mike has in Milwaukee as a Buck.. As a first time Fan Poster, I'd like to not make up random trade rumors (not mentioning any names...). Rather I'm going to ask what you guys think we will do with Mike and his one-year left on his contract..? Nobody is sure how much value he holds, but it will most likely be hard to get much for him since he will be out until February. Comments appreciated, but i'm not anattention w***e! :)

Wait til trade deadline
And see where/if you need help. If you are solid let it expire, if you need something, use it for that.
I'm taking my talents to.......The Golden Arches!
I voted let him expire
As we were discussing in the other fanpost, I just question whether there will be good value in a “star” trade. If we dealt for someone like Iggy I could probably talk myself into it, but right now I’m not crazy about it given all of our other assets.
I like the sound of trading Redd at the Deadline..
and sorry, I didn’t see the “Redd as an asset” post. Teams may want expiring contrats more at the deadline more then ever if they want to dump big, bloated salaries. Take for example Elton Brand, we give up Redd and Gooden and we can take Brand, say Jason Kapono (who might I add lights it up from 3 land), and a future 1st-round pick. Philly has been dying to dump Brand, and that is a somewhat reasonable deal..
"Furry walls, o furry walls.."
The thing about letting him expire
Is that we still wouldn’t have much cap room next summer. It’s not like we can let him expire and then offer a huge contract to Carmelo or somebody like that. It sounds like we’d only have roughly the Mid-level exception to offer next summer even if we just let Redd expire.
Is that accurate, or am I missing something?
That's right
Though I’m not sure there’s going to be a free agency period next summer to begin with…

I'd trade Redd, Delfino, Maggette, Ersan and/or Luc for Iggy [and Brand, if need be]
I’d even throw in a pick if we had to.
I’m aware the Bucks are going for a “Whole is greater…” philosophy, but Iggy would give Milw a true Big 3 for years to come, and would also solidify them as a true contender in the East, IMO.
If Brand can play at all, he’d be a good backup C. No?
If Milw has a good record and Philly stinks at the deadline, what are the chances of this happening? 50/50? More?
the Pistons went all in w/ Rasheed, and it got them a title…. I’m just sayin ; )
If we didn't like paying Gadzuric $6 mil/season to back up Bogut
Then we sure won’t like paying Brand $17 mil/season (That’s right, 17 million dollars per year) to sit on the bench for the next 3 years.
Brand avg 13/6 last year - he's Kareem compared to Gadz
My point was, we’d probably have to take Brand in order to get Iggy…. but atleast Brand would be an excellent backup to Bogut, IMO.
But it’s all ablout getting Iggy.
I like Iguodala
But I think paying him $56m/4 years is inflated enough that we shouldn’t have to take on the $51 mil left on Brand’s contract too.

What about acquiring Evan Turner and plugging him into Skiles's system?
by OBrienSchofieldismyHero on Jul 25, 2010 12:46 PM CDT up reply actions
Not opposed to it..
But who do you suggest we give up? It’s not like Philly is just going to let us have him, E.T. could be really good.. Plus he won’t start now that we re-signed Salmons
"Furry walls, o furry walls.."
I'd say the Bucks trade Dooling and Redd, along with next year's first round pick.
Maybe I’m just shafting the 76ers by giving them an injury prone SG in exchnege for the 2nd overall pick, though…

philly fans might enjoy getting shafted......something else to bitch and moan about
"That," says LeBron, "is for everyone that watches me play. They witness something special. You're all a witness."
Evan Turner
Would be a nice addition, not so positive he’s an upgrade to CDR yet tho with comparable youth.
I think ET will be better than John Wall.
Wall really should have stayed in school. Why? Because as attractive as being the first overall selection in the NBA draft is, what does he have afterwards?
UK played in one of the least competitive conferences in the entire nation last year. John Wall put up a lot of his stats against average to ‘meh’ competition. Had Wall played in the Big Ten, he would have faced much tougher competition (MSU, OSU, Wisconsin, and Purdue) at least four times that year.
Huge complaint incoming! What I don’t get is why on earth a team was dumb enough to draft Eric Bledsoe. He’s NOT first round pick material at all. I like the Magic but I hate the decision they made to take him. That selection is about as dumb as the one to take Joe Alexander…

If you are the #1 pick
you should never stay in school. Players stay in school to improve their draft status. It’s about a paycheck and he’s got the biggest one of any rook. His competition was clearly good enough to get him a #1 pick.
Not to mention Wall is coming to the Wiz who with JaVale McGee have a nice young PG and C combo to add to a young PF in Blatche who showed he can hold it down last season and just the right new owner, Leonsis, for getting the job done in DC. A few years of development and they could be really nice.
What does wall have after being the #1 pick?
Well, $5.1 million in salary this season alone, which is probably $4.9 million more than he made under the table at Kentucky last year. That is not even including endorsement opportunities.
Wall also can rely on his outlandish athleticism to get by in the NBA until his skills get up to snuff. That is more than Turner will have in his rookie season.

Life after bball...
I’d hardly be surprised if Wall ended up like Antoine Walker after his career is done: broke…
It would be sad, but I wouldnt’ be too surprised…

What about Wall in particular makes you think he can't handle his money?
Other than the fact that he is 19 years old, when most people aren’t good with their money.

One year of college. That's it.
Now, Wall could prove me wrong and go back to college…

He looked a step slow in summer league though.
There is an interesting article about his performance in Orlando:

Cousins looking attractive right about now ???
"That," says LeBron, "is for everyone that watches me play. They witness something special. You're all a witness."
I try not to make up fantasy trades..... But realgm gave this a thumbs up
Redd, Ersan, Delfino for Iggy and Brand.
We could probably get Philly to throw in a draft pick or two.
I’d do it in a sec!!
If my fantasy trade actually happened, here's your 2010/2011 Bucks
BJ – Salmons – Iggy – Gooden – Bogut…. as starters
Dooling – CDR – Maggette – Luc – Brand…. as backups – along w/ Sanders and a few others.
Now THAT is a team that contend w/ Miami in the East, IMO.
BJ could avg 8apg just by throwing alley-oops : )
Talent-wise I agree, it looks better
2 Questions
If Philly doesn’t believe Iggy can play 3 next to Evan Turner, why do we thing he can play 3 next to John Salmons?
Why trade a financial asset for some serious financial liability that we’ve worked so hard to attain?
Brand and Iggy have contracts that might not allow the Bucks to re-sign CDR, LRMAM, Jennings and even Jennings down the line.
For financial reasons, not the talent, I would nay this one.
Tradechecker wouldn't let Maggette be trade until Dec [i think] - so I left him out of the deal.
But I’d think he’d almost have to go if JH took on Iggy and Brands contracts
Haha!
The title for this post makes me think about ‘The Sound of Music’! I know, it’s sad that a) I have seen it at least once and b) that I have obviously ‘enjoyed’ it so much that I can relate it to this post…
…Anyway, to the tune of ‘How do you solve a problem like Maria?’ -
‘How do solve a problem like number 22? How do you try to shaft a fallen star?’
’How do you find a word that means number 22? A jump-shooting wiz! An over-paid hack! A farce!?
Good grief! Did I just write THAT? Ummmm…..

I voted let him expire
I was tempted for waiting til the deadline and trading him in a package deal ONLY if a blockbuster star deal comes our way, like someone who was in last years all-star game or will be in this years.
I'm sure we'd have to give them more than Redd
But it would be interesting to see if the Checked Shirt could find a way to swindle Bird out of Danny Granger.
Danny Granger might be a realistic target
I’d much prefer him to Iggy
Am I the only person who thinks
The Bucks don’t need their draft picks next year? and definitely not to acquire more picks?
Jennings 20
CDR 23
LRMAM 23
Sanders 21, Ersan 23, Brockman 23
Bogut 25
Thats not even including Tiny or Hobson
Basketball isn’t like football where guys wait their turn for years like Aaron Rodgers.
More than happy to package our 2011 first rounder for something else.

Larry Sanders and Bogut catching oops from CP3...
now that would be someting to see. We can even throw in someone from our PF heap if they wanna give us a 1st rounder as well
Hey now....
He can play basketball, so why should we care about his character? ;)

No Thanks
CP3 is coming off a injury that kept him out for an entire season. Jennings has shown that in a few years he could be equally as good.
As much as I love Jennings and the fact he is our own draft pick....
we are talking about the best point guard in the NBA. Any time you can get the best of anything you should do it. Like you said, BJ looks like he could be as good, not will be. Potentially a top 8 PG for the best one? No brainer. Chris Paul leading the NBA in assists and steals every year as a Buck…sounds real nice. Plus he missed less than half the season, came back and played at the end, but NO was so bad they held him out the last couple weeks as if they knew they were gonna trade him and didnt want to risk him getting hurt in meaningless games.
I disagree
For several reasons, starting with the fact that in a realistic scenario we’re talking about rent-a-superstar and at that a superstar with a significant injury history. Can we imagine trading BJ3 for a guy who gets injured again. Wow! He wants to go to NYC or Orlando for more than just being with D Howard or Amare and contending. He wants to live the lush life that Milwaukee can’t offer.
Lets just
Trade Ray Allen for Gary Payton again
I think that scenario
Would never play out anyway, whether we agree with the deal or not.
I'm taking my talents to.......The Golden Arches!
Please dont compare these two trades, they are not even close
Ray Allen was in his prime and Gary Payton was over the hill. Jennings is still unproven with only one year under his belt and Chirs Paul is in MVP talks every year. It was basically a salary dump because we had to trade either Ray or Redd and at the time Redd was the cheaper option and Ray Rays trade value was higher.
I understand...
that Chris Paul doesnt want to play in Milwaukee and that this trade will never happen, but the Bucks would be a better team with this trade at least for the next 2 years. Also, Chris Paul’s injury history isnt that significant as you are making it out to be. Even the best players in the game (Kobe, Lebron, Carmelo, and Wade all miss about 10-12 games a year on average which is right where Paul is.
Would you trade Jennings for Wade right now? Yes for sure no question. 2 years ago? Not even a chance. Wade couldnt make it through half a season and was considered injury prone, but after 2 relatively healthy seasons he is the man once again. I just disagree with you saying Chris Paul has a significant injury history after just one bigger injury. Thats all. I mean he has played more games than Bogut! So does that make Bogut have a super ultra injury history? haha sorry. You seem the type of person who wouldnt trade Bogut for Dwight Howard either.
Chris Paul would make us a contender
we can not always be building for the future, sometimes the future is now.
Right
The team we have right now, I’d say makes us a contender for whatever we’re suppose to be contending for? Would CP3 edge us over Orlando? Miami?
Helllllllll No
by FearTheDeer on Jul 25, 2010 11:47 AM CDT up reply actions
Contend for a championship... what else? Dont act up
No matter who we pick up we may never have an edge over LA or Miami but CP3 would certainly help. It would give us the best chance to win and our best team since the 80s.
I'd trade Bogut for D Howard
It’s a significantly different trade tho on sooooooo many levels.
Jennings for Wade is different too, but more similar.
I won’t discuss to much cuz none of this is realistic.
by FearTheDeer on Jul 25, 2010 11:50 AM CDT up reply actions
To all those who chose the last option
Ask yourselves……..Why would a team trade draft picks and young(Inexpensive is inferred i think)talent for an expiring contract, it doesn’t make a lot of sense. Expirings usually get a player that is not fitting in, position is duplicated or long and/or expensive contract.

What shall we do with Michael Redd?

Put him in a long boat until he’s sober
