Jennings playing ball, Ilyasova and Delfino ready for World openers
Brandon's still ballin'
Slam: Brandon to Wall at the Boost Mobile Elite 24
Brandon Jennings, John Wall and Tyreke Evans were among the notable names playing late night pickup at the Boost Mobile high school all-star game...with predictably awesome results.
JS: Delfino, Ilyasova ready for Worlds
The JS reports (albeit second hand) that Ersan Ilyasova did in fact break his nose last weekend against Lebanon, though there's no suggestion that he'll be missing this weekend's opening games for Turkey. For John Hammond, it's all part of the double-edged sword of your players representing their countries.
"What could Ersan be doing any better than this to improve his overall skill set?" Hammond said. "But there is a factor with him, with a young player like Ersan and the pressure on the Turkish national team as the host team for the world championships. There can be a fatigue factor."
Things get started on Saturday with Turkey playing Cote D'Ivoire at 1 pm central while Argentina opens against Germany a half hour later. At least that's what my time zone math tells me (Istanbul is eight ours ahead of Milwaukee). Both teams play again exactly 24 hours later, Turkey against Russia and Argentina vs. the Bogut-less Aussies, with all games broadcast live on ESPN3.com. Time for some game threads, people.
Amico: Sampson considering move to Chicago?
Via Sam Amico:
Just learned current Bucks asst Kelvin Sampson is 3rd guy in running for Bulls asst job, along with Terry Porter, Eric Musselman.
Jim Boylan has been Scott Skiles' top assistant since they were in Chicago, so presumably Sampson is looking at more money should he get the offer of becoming Tom Thibodeau's top deputy with the Bulls.
Complex Mag: Brandon Jennings Talks “Black Ice” Signature Shoe
Jennings' interview with Complex Magazine (h/t Nick Monroe) is mostly about his new shoe, but there's also a little bit about basketball. On what he's been working on this summer:
I think it’s just been consistency. Being a consistent shooter, I’ve been working on my legs a lot more, so that’s been getting me through. When game 50 comes, I want to be able to keep on finishing and lasting through the last 30 games. So, I’ve put a lot into my leg strength and conditioning this offseason.
Wyn Douglas: NBA roster flow charts
You may know Wyn as the proprietor of the best T'Wolves site on the interwebs (SBN, woot), but he's also the man behind these sweet flow charts showing the evolution of every NBA roster.
ESPN: Bucks 13th in NBA
John Hollinger and Chris Broussard are ranking the NBA 1-30.
Bucksketball: Will new acquisitions improve Bucks' finishing?
Good read from Jeremy on how the Bucks' summer should help them around the cup. On a related note, my favorite Corey Maggette stat: he averaged 12.8 free throw attempts per 48 minutes last year, while the Bucks as a team averaged 20.4.
Courtside Analyst: Bucks' glory years
I had a good time reading up on the Bucks of the '70s for the SBN Wisconsin HOF nominations, but Ty has taken it to another level with a series of great analysis posts.

A note about Jennings
Today, ESPN continued its Summer Forecast with voting on the player of the next decade, and Jennings received one vote. Lebron, KD and Kobe mopped up most of the votes, but someone out there thinks Jennings will be the best player of the coming decade.

Having 93 voters strains the definition of “experts” but always nice to have his name on the list.

Btw, how on earth did Kobe finish third?
I know he only got a few votes, but c’mon. We just started the decade and he’s already 32. Kobe loyalism is frightening…

***WATCH THE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES ONLINE***
Hey dude, I know personally I don’t get ESPN3 at all so I can’t watch the games on there, so I’m sure others are in the same boat as me.
You can for sure watch all of Turkey’s games live online on NTV and NTV Spor. I’m not sure if they are televising other games on there as well though. But at least for Ersan we can see every game! Perhaps you might want to post these on the top of the site so people have easy access to the live streams??
This is Turkey’s schedule for pool play with Milwaukee (Central) time included:
Saturday August 28 1:00 PM vs. Cote d’Ivoire
Sunday August 29 1:00 PM vs. Russia
Tuesday August 31 1:00 PM vs. Greece
Wednesday September 1 1:00 PM vs. Puerto Rico
Thursday September 2 1:00 PM vs. China

Thanks osh!
I know I can always count on you for Ersan-related news :)

Here’s the schedule for Delfino
Carlitos games with Argentina will be aired in Argentina by two networks: TYC Sports and Canal 7, the public channel. The first one should be able to be watched here http://es.justin.tv/mario35sports and the second one here http://www.tvpublica.com.ar/tvpublica/ or here http://www.videa.com.ar/canal7.php .
This is Argentina schedule for first round, Milwaukee hour. It plays all of the following days except Tuesday.
Argentina- Germany- Saturday 29. 13.30
Argentina-Australia – Sunday 13.30
Argentina-Angola- Monday 13.30
Argentina-Jordania-Wednesday 13.30
Argentina- Serbia- Thursday 11.30
Some things maybe a Buck fan can enjoy while watching Argentina
-Delfino playing SG. With Nocioni’s absence Carlitos will be forced to display his entire repertoire. As I believe Ilikebj said, my guess is that Skiles will make a trio with Salmons, Maggette and Delfino for the 2 and 3 positions, so this maybe a good chance to see how Carlitos handles things anticipating his performance in .
-Fabricio Oberto as a future aging version of Andrew Bogut. Here in the NBA there’s a Fabri’s image is mostly as a screen maker for Tim Duncan to score. In his early days he had as Andrew the skill to play good pick and roll and to assist over what is expected for a big man. His hook, even though was a fairly decent one when he was younger, didn’t match Andrew’s.
Fans: there won’t be many Argentineans in Turkey –there were reported only 40 to actually live there but expect the few that will gather to resemble Squad Six in their dressing styles and ways of making noise.
Argentina’s starters:
PG. Pablo Prigioni. Real Madrid, Spain
SG. Carlos Delfino. Future NBA East best team
SF. Hernán Jasen. Estudiantes, Spain
PF. Luis Scola. Houston Rockets
C . Fabricio Oberto. Free Agent.
Here you can find a deep analysis of Argentina http://thepaintedarea.blogspot.com/2010/08/2010-fiba-worlds-group-preview.html , previous to Nocioni’s withdrawal. With him out, Argentina’s possibilities for winning a medal have dramatically decreased, not only because of his absence –Argentina played very well without him during preparatory games- but because of the low quality, age or inexperience of back up players.
Great anaylsis, as usual.

I'll change my recommendation
For previews, read this CBS Sports Guide http://nba-facts-and-rumors.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/22748484/24156365: it’s predicting an Argentina and Team USA final. Very optimistic for our chances, but put me in a good mood.
(Argentinean coach Ruben Magnano’s Brazil beating Greece in semifinals? Could be, but it seems this writer like us Argentineans very much)
I'll Price is Right you and say +401
Maybe he should play first base instead. That is, he should lie out there and we can step on him when we get a hit.
You should officially make palomba your international correspondent on Argentinean affairs. Ditto Osh and Ersan news. Great job as usual guys.

take out John Wall and replace him Larry Sanders....sic
"That," says LeBron, "is for everyone that watches me play. They witness something special. You're all a witness."
Yep
Didn’t seem like he threw many lobs last year, though we also didn’t have (m)any lob-worthy guys. Sanders definitely helps…
by Frank Madden on Aug 27, 2010 10:58 AM CDT up reply actions
yeah our lob worthiness rating was pretty low ;)
whilst we werent exactly slow and had some pretty decent athletes, we didnt have that pure athleticism or a guy who could really add that WOW factor with their physical attributes, but Sanders hopefully gives us that option,
Jennings and Bogut had a nice chemistry going hopefully Sanders and Jennings can get that going and cause some teams a few headaches
"That," says LeBron, "is for everyone that watches me play. They witness something special. You're all a witness."
Roster flow chart
Man, it was hard to acquire Delfino.
Maybe he should play first base instead. That is, he should lie out there and we can step on him when we get a hit.
It was all part of the plan

I was actually considering making something like that for the Bucks...
Good thing I saw this before I did.

The Really Amazing Thing About That Jennings Oop
Is the level of court awareness that it displayed. Wall passed to him and sprinted downcourt while Jennings whirled the ball around his body, throwing it up for the jam. Wall and Jennings were communicating at another level to work that play.
Bogut is #2 on Dwyers BDL center list.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/blog/ball_dont_lie/post/Ranking-the-centers-11-through-1?urn=nba-265548
2. Andrew Bogut(notes), Milwaukee Bucks (last year: 12th)
That’s right. The man who I think is the second best center in the NBA didn’t even make the All-Star team last year.
This isn’t me trying to be obscure – Bogut was a number overall pick fercryin’outloud – it’s just the end result of seeing this guy work expertly on either end of the court last year. Bogut was an at times-dominant defender, on par with Dwight Howard on that end as Howard started 2009-10 slow, and his versatile offensive game still isn’t being taken advantage enough by his Bucks teammates.
All he does is do everything well, save for the odd trip to the free throw line. And because he turns 26 just a month into the season, and so many other bigs are either playing out of position, coming back from injury, or starting to put it all together, I think Bogut establishes himself as a clear number two in 2010-11. To those that pay attention to defense, at least.
Just behind Howard, ahead of Brook Lopez, Al Horford, and Andrew Bynum.
Wow, I didn't expect him to be ranked that high
But if he plays like he did last year, I agree.
(and lol and all the whiny commentators. It’s like they didn’t even read each players description or took the the time to think about Dwyer’s reasoning.)

I'm always amazed how incredibly lame the BDL commenters are
All they do is rip KD for not being a massive fanboy of…everyone.

I concur.
I still read most of the articles, but the banal, ego driven comments from hormonally deranged 16 year olds drove me to find a better forum to be involved with…hello BrewHoop!
Squad Six is to the Bucks what beer is to Milwaukee (or anywhere else for that matter)... the catalyst for you doing dumb things in public and not feeling self-conscious!

The end of his post seems to be directed at that segment of his readership. One of these days I feel like he’s going to defect and start his own Free Darko style rant site in which he will find every chance he can to compare this era’s teams to the Bulls dynasty and find them lacking. I think that the presence of Trey Kerby does nothing for his street cred.
by MadTown Hoops on Aug 27, 2010 7:14 PM CDT up reply actions
I like Kerby, he brings some levity to the site.
Same role Skeets had when he wrote for BDL.

I never really got Trey's sense of humor before he was at BDL
Only saw his stuff occasionally but was like “meh.” But since he’s been at BDL I’ve really come around. I think he’s a very nice complement to KD, just like Skeets…maybe he changed his style up slightly, I don’t know.
by Frank Madden on Aug 28, 2010 10:11 AM CDT up reply actions
I'll admit he's getting better
But with 15 posts a day about nothing, you had better become a better writer. My bias is mostly from his early days at BDL, when his posts were all mind bogglingly inane. In a year, I might truly appreciate him, although I’ll likely still think his sense of humor is grating.
For the record, I’m not a Skeets loyalist. Dude lost me with his constant Milwaukee Bucks hate. Does anyone remember the post from Summer of 09 when he point blank said “I Hate the Milwaukee Bucks”? He used that line as his freaking title for a post (since removed). He characterized the city itself as bland and unlikeable and admitted he avoided the city whenever possible. That was it for me.
Writers I like: Kelly Dwyer, Bethlehem Shoals, John Hollinger, Tom Ziller, Sebastian Pruiti, Henry Abbot, Adrian Wojranowski, Ira Winderman

"That," says LeBron, "is for everyone that watches me play. They witness something special. You're all a witness."
Well, to be fair for the longest time It was hard to take the Bucks seriously as a sports franchise...
Maybe only rivaling the Clippers in that aspect…

woaah go to the head of the class.........
when you look at the all round games of the top centers Bogut definitely deserves some play for his two way basketball skills…….only thing is with him coming back from his injury not sure he will live up to that ranking straight away…..but the potential is there to be realised once he gets fully fit and firing
"That," says LeBron, "is for everyone that watches me play. They witness something special. You're all a witness."
Bucks close to signing Hobson, Sampson likely staying, etc...
