Brew Hoop Podcast # 8: What Have Bucks Players Been Doing This Summer (Part Three)?
If you are a bit behind on our coverage, we have already discussed the off-season efforts of both Brandon Jennings (Podcast # 4) and Ersan Ilyasova (Podcast # 3), caught you up on Andrew Bogut, Keyon Dooling, Stephen Jackson, Jon Brockman, and Jon Leuer (Podcast # 6), and most recently discussed Luc Richard Mbah a Moute, Shaun Livingston, and Larry Sanders (Podcast # 7). Miss a little, miss a lot.
In this episode, Frank Madden and Steve von Horn continue the roster tour with updates on Andrew Bogut, Carlos Delfino, and off-season acquisition Beno Udrih. You can get a quick rundown of all the things touched on in episode eight, along with the audio links, after the jump.
In this episode, we speak on the following topics:
- Andrew Bogut's rumored interest in joining an Australian NBL team if the lockout continues and how it may affect his lingering injuries.
- Carlos Delfino's role in the FIBA Americas tournament and whether it could affect his play heading into whatever NBA season we get. Be sure to check out Palomba's post for more on Carlos and Argentina.
- Beno Udrih's quiet off-season (hint: he's rich enough and has apparently managed his money well enough to avoid any flirtation with foreign league teams or his Slovenian national team).

The city of Adelaide was founded in 1836, hence 36ers.
Bogut mentioned that he would like to play in Australia to be near family (he’s from Melbourne). In terms of travel Perth is like playing in LA with family in New York, Adelaide is like Kansas.
Luc Longley used to part own the Wildcats with Andrew Vlahov (played at Stanford with Todd Litchi and Adam Keefe). Melbourne Tigers was Andrew Gaze’s team (Seton Hall 1989 and technical NBA Champion with Spurs).
The NBL is mid size players game (not many good guys over 6’10") he would dominate, maybe he will become more confident and aggressive in his offense game which would be good for the Bucks. Believe it or not he used to put up massive numbers as a junior (he makes Jonas V performance at the u19 tournament look average) look it up
Its better that he play in Australia than Europe, as Europe is more physical (banging without foul calls) for the big guys. IMO no sensible star from the NBA would play in Asia or Europe if they knew the truth (never paid on time, rude & racist fans, language barriers etc.) compared to NBA clubs which are professionally. These facts combined with the issue that Europe (except Turkey) doesn’t have the money (look at the teams that pay the big money and compare them with those countries with sovereign debt) means that the big money is just not out there unless your an All-NBA player
Further, how come you don’t talk about Jennings playing competitive rec league basketball? surely he’s more likely to be injured than Carlos or Andrew trying to prove he’s legit by beating his man (cough Josh Selby cough).
Good stuff, EDN
I knew Perth was on the other side of the country but didn’t realize it was a five hour flight. I guess that’s still much closer than Milwaukee, but clearly he wouldn’t be eating his mom’s home cooking every night. Wonder how big of a factor that will be in his ultimate decision.
I’m very curious to see how NBA players in Europe and China react to the lifestyle, fans and style of play, particularly the guys who wouldn’t play in Europe if not for the lockout. Might in for some major culture shock.
And for those wondering about Bogut’s performance in the World Junior Tournament, here are his stats:

Note that he shot 5/13 from three and 74% from the line…sigh.
Great Pod Cast
Bogie’s not going anywhere. He won’t risk an injury if the lockout is finished.
