Another great addition to the BrewHoop lineup!

I picked Leuer because of the magnitude of that play but they were all great plays.

For those interested Hobson will be back at it today(Sunday)for a 5PM game(eastern time)

not watchable, right?

kinda nice to organize the far-too-many items on my Mac desktop, covet a graphics app (Acorn), and write this — all during a low-key Packer games that means nothing to the coming playoffs.

Packer game — not plural

brand new idea for a brand new year — commenters get to edit their posts. Bet nobody’s ever thought of that before. [insert devil’s icon here]

There is some sort of app that lets you watch D-League games

But it may be part of another package, living in Canada doesn’t give me access to a lot of things. As Chris Bosh said we don’t have the good cable up here.

Chuk try this link

You can watch archived games just not sure if they show them live as well

Might as well say it early

Although they’re not playing until tomorrow. the Milwaukee Bucks look really good — compared to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants.

And “Bucks” as a nickname (although it conjures timid prey) works better IMO than “Mad Ants.” For a human-size observer, is there any functional difference between a mad ant and a sane ant?

Game starts in about 35 minutes (they obviously timed it to the end of the Packer game). That link calls it a “FUTURECAST”. Sounds kinda SciFi, but likely ain’t. I’m just going to wait until 4 central and click it.

The D-League FutureCast has been known to cause the occasional time paradox.

Are you thinking futureworld?

Horrible movie IMO

Ok D-League is not exciting

Couple nice plays on Hobson’s part but I can’t watch anymore

Hobson

…seems to be doing the same things for Fort Wayne as he does for Milw. Facilitating the offense, making a few attacking passes — but otherwise pretty much invisible.

If I could see the FUTURECAST on my TV, I could take a nap. But I don’t trust the laptop on my lap while asleep, so just a few minutes more.

Hobson2

He has 7 points at half. 2nd game with them, first start. Penetrated 2x, fouled, made 5 points. Took a quick pass in the paint, scored. Missed about 3 outside shots. Active hands on defense. Poked the ball away 2 or 3 times. Moved OK, but not with obvious quickness. Before a sideline inbound, he did some hip stretching, so maybe the surgeries still have some aftereffects. Didn’t seem in pain.

If he, bottom line, has NBA talent, then I’d say his smarts make him a good asset. So far, haven’t seen that talent. Can he play at FW for 20-30 games?

by unklchuk on Jan 1, 2012 5:24 PM CST up reply actions

I think outside shooting was supposed to be his weak point

Slasher/facilitator seems to be his strengths and active on D. Think he’s a 8th or 9th guy really, but that’s ok for the second round.

Ok he just nailed a 20 footer

To put them up by 1 with about 20 seconds left. 22 points, 5 boards, 5 dimes

Canton goes 0-4 on their last trip down and the Mad Ants win

The 20 or so people in attendance go wild and a new hero is born……..

Hobson3

He made the winning basket like CB said. Minutes before that he made a 3-pointer to bring the angry Ants close. Then got fouled 2x inside and made 4 free throws. He had 22 points. Announcers never mentioned assists (maybe they learn about them next term) but he must have had about 4 or 5 — even tho the offense typically ran on the opposite side from Hobson and he often wasn’t part of it. Announcer said, “Hobson is getting stronger as this game goes on.”

The other team had 4 red paint shots in the final seconds, and missed.

(I said I wasn’t going to watch. But I went to the kitchen to put some food together and when I came back it was in the 4th quarter.)

by unklchuk on Jan 1, 2012 6:47 PM CST up reply actions

Voted for the drive-and-dish

The Jennings reverse was probably the prettiest play of the bunch, but I’m in the same boat as CB: the Leuer play was huge in the context of the game and it was also a prime example of what we all wish Jennings would do more often.

So, if you haven't heard yet, Boogie Cousins is reportedly demanding a trade from the Kings.

I have been thinking about it. If you the Bucks’ GM, would you even want him? Who would you be willing to give up to get him? Would you trade Larry Sanders and Carlos Delfino for Cousins and Dante Green? Who would say no to that?

Cousins is just such a volatile mix of talent and immaturity. He has the shot selection of a gunner in the mold of Nick Young, but he is just so big, quick and potentially dominant.

by Brick's house on Jan 1, 2012 6:46 PM CST reply actions

To answer your question
Who would say no to that?

I would say the Kings.

If Bucks switch out Delfino for Livingston, would Kings still say no?

The best passer currently on Kings roster is probably Chuck Hayes, so Livingston might be a little more enticing.

by Brick's house on Jan 1, 2012 8:01 PM CST up reply actions

Maybe...

I just see Delfino as only having value to a contender

Kings will want real value

And that deal is just a rotation depth move. Of course, this is the team that traded Beno for John Salmons in order to move down three spots in the draft :)

by Frank Madden on Jan 1, 2012 10:00 PM CST up reply actions

Cousins is going to be a hot commodity...

…for bottom feeder teams. His lack of maturity combined with his immense ego will mean that he will individually dominate but never gel as a team player, meaning he won’t be a high priority to the better teams around the league IMO.

by Big Crazy Dave on Jan 1, 2012 7:31 PM CST up reply actions

Can't imagine they'll give him away

He’s too young for that, and who knows how long he’ll be demanding a trade. It’s not like the Kings are trying to win a title right now anyway, they might as well ride it out unless someone a) makes them a great offer or b) he gets his **** together.

by Frank Madden on Jan 1, 2012 9:56 PM CST up reply actions

I wonder if Cousins will have a career trajectory similar to Z Bo

Where it takes him a few years to get it, but then he will be able to just dominate at times.

Probably the best comp there is

Nobody else has the same combo talent, body type and idiocy.

So,the Kings just have to wait 9 or so years until he hits 30...

…to finally hit paydirt?

Can't see him meshing well with Skiles

He has such incredible potential, I’d love to see him in Milwaukee—in a vacuum. Unfortunately, my gut feeling is he wouldn’t do well under a guy as intense and demanding as Skiles. Seems like he needs more of a player’s coach. I wonder if Minnesota might try to put together a package including Beasley and Wes? Putting him next to Love and Rubio with Adelman as a coach would be impressive. Kings probably not super interested in those guys though.

In response to myself, though, I think many of us agree that Jennings has done well under Skiles the Stickler. Even if he hasn’t always played that great, he’s been (at least outwardly) a willing student and a hard worker. So who knows?

by Dan Sinclair on Jan 1, 2012 8:17 PM CST up reply actions

The Wolves could have had Cousins last year in the draft, but took Wes Johnson instead.

If probably wouldn’t take much to pry Beasley away from them though. He just had a potentially nasty finger injury at the end of the Dallas game, blood everywhere and if you could read his lips on the bench, he said, “You can see the bone!”

by Brick's house on Jan 1, 2012 8:33 PM CST up reply actions

Minny could have had him right?

IIRC it was character issues with Cousins that made Minny take Wes. That draft looks weaker and weaker as time goes on.

by CanadaBucks on Jan 1, 2012 8:39 PM CST up reply actions

It really does

It’s funny because Cousins has been everything people were worried about him being, but Johnson has also been as un-dynamic as people worried he might be. Other factor was Minny already having Love and I think people questioned how well they could co-exist.

by Frank Madden on Jan 1, 2012 9:53 PM CST up reply actions

Sanders doesn't look too bad at all, all things considered.

Time will tell how that draft as a whole stacks up, but for now the Bucks look fairly decent in that all.

"The Needs of the Many...outweigh the needs of the One:

And so, the ‘experts’ and ‘scribes’ on draft day called it correctly regarding the boy/man known as Cousins. He has neither the temperment, or the will to be a part of a growing, developing team. LIke many who come from the land of ‘entitlement’ "winning’ is the only cure for Cousins, and others cut from the same mold. Unable, or unwilling to be part of a program in which some compromise, sacriface, etc. is part of the plan cats like Cousins let you know early he wants no part of this.

The answer is NO to the question regarding his place here in Buck Land.
Milwaukee provides a similar blue print to the teams he would continue his ‘problems’ with.
In this case Buffett would have been wrong,…“changes of latitude…changes of attitude”.

Alright, Denver is going to beat the Lakers, so now the Bucks will be facing an exhausted and relieved team...

… instead of an exhausted and pissed off team. The Bucks game will be the Nuggets fifth game in six nights and their third game in three days, setting up as a classic let down game for the Nuggets.

by Brick's house on Jan 1, 2012 9:33 PM CST reply actions

Frank's tweet from last night got me thinking.
Stephen Jackson has played <24 minutes in 2 of 3 games. Last year it only happened three times: 2x due to ejection, once b/c of injury.

Jackson has been struggling with a balky back this season. I wonder whether his bad back is a factor in his foul trouble. Perhaps he isn’t moving well laterally due to the back and is reaching and grabbing more on defense as a result.

The crazy thought is that it might just be a blessing for the Bucks. If Jackson is limited by his injury, then he might be more effective playing fewer minutes per game. The Bucks have Livingston and Udrih available to back up Jackson at the two guard, and Mbah a Moute or Harris can even cover some small forward minutes so Delfino and Dunleavy can slide into the back court. It is not like he needs to play 35 minutes a night for the team to be successful.

I think if Jackson can play hard for 20 minutes a night, then the Bucks should take that and use the depth they have to fill in the other 28 minutes a game at shooting guard. It will keep Jackson fresher in this condensed season.

by Brick's house on Jan 2, 2012 10:14 AM CST reply actions

That should read “Delfino or Dunleavy can slide into the back court.” I am with you Chuck, SB Nation needs an edit feature for comments.
