Home away from home. The Bucks will be wrapping up their preseason schedule at the Resch Center in Green Bay, WI, right across the street from the Greatest Stadium in the NFL (COME AT ME, VON HORN). The Bucks' last preseason game in Green Bay was an 86-78 victory over the Bobcats.
Progress and panic. Yesterday's victory over Charlotte featured a number of pleasant surprises. Doron Lamb played well in his preseason debut, Larry Sanders bounced back from a one-game suspension, and Tobias Harris played perhaps his best game of the preseason. Encouraging performances from young players is really the most we can ask from exhibition games, so in that regard it was a great success.
But it's hard to ignore the lines of Milwaukee's three most high-profile players. Backcourt-mates Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis combined for 11 points on 4-of-25 shooting. Ersan Ilyasova was 2-of-8 (though he did add 6 rebounds and 2 steals in 19 minutes). Yeah, it's exhibition. Yeah, you'd like to think these guys would be more cognizant of their poor shooting in a real game. But man, those are not pretty numbers. All three guys could use solid games in Green Bay to build some momentum for the regular season.
Where are the Wolves? Minnesota remains without their top two players, as Ricky Rubio continues to rehab his knee-injury from last season and Kevin Love recovers from a broken hand suffered doing...knuckle pushups. Just goes to show you, showing off with feats of physical ability never gets you anywhere. Former Badger Greg Stiemsma now calls Minnesota home; Greg recorded 6 points and 3 rebounds in 17 minutes of action against Detroit on Wednesday.
