On the Magic: Orlando Pinstriped Post / Magic Basketball / Orlando Sentinel
Just three days after the Orlando Magic rallied to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks behind a stunning 4th-quarter run, the series shifts back to Milwaukee. The Bucks likely won't have to contend with Jason Richardson, who has been experiencing chest pain. That's one less long-range shooter to worry about, but with Ryan Anderson bombing away from outside, defending the three will still be crucial in earning the season's first victory over the Magic.
For the Bucks, the statuses of Drew Gooden (wrist/knee) and Tobias Harris (shoulder contusion) remain in doubt after both players sat out yesterday's win over the Nets. Prior to the game Scott Skiles had hoped one or both would be ready either tonight or for Wednesday's game in Chicago. Gooden did not travel with the team to Orlando and New Jersey after seeing a specialist for his wrist last week, while Harris hurt his shoulder running into a hard screen against the Magic on Friday. Harris was in considerable pain and went to the locker room immediately after the play, though it was later confirmed to be a contusion rather than a more serious separation or dislocation of the shoulder.

Harris getting hurt...
just proves he’s a Buck kind of big. Until Gooden’s renewed hurts I’d been thinking he might be an exception to our Get Hurt Stay Hurt policy.

anyone else find it ironic...
that jon brockman has a series of trick shot videos when he can’t make a lay up to save his life in a game?
seriously, it loses all novelty when he makes a shot from the rafters when he can’t make one from 18 inches…
19 fouls on the season<————→19 points on the season (5/22)
i just don’t grasp why the team has not added another big man from the d-league, FA, or trade yet. its inexcusable
by Charlie_Buckets on Feb 20, 2012 4:53 PM CST reply actions
I see a simple explanation
Brockman’s clutch abilities come out in the. pressure of a. trick video. Game situations aren’t challenging enough for him. We won’t see the real Brockman until we get past the 2nd round of the playoffs.
by unklchuk on Feb 20, 2012 5:04 PM CST via Android app up reply actions
which presents us with a simple solution
give him the ball at ‘end of quarter situations’ because a trick shot has an infinite higher chance of going in the basket than no shot at all…
it sure feels hard to #bemilwaukee these days
by Charlie_Buckets on Feb 20, 2012 5:23 PM CST up reply actions
Because they're stealth tanking?
OK, maybe not…
Yeah, it is a bit odd that they haven’t made a move, but the Bucks have had an odd aversion to finding a real backup center ever since Kurt Thomas left. The roster congestion over the summer was probably a big part of it, but it does strike me as strange given the win-now mentality and Bogut’s absence that they haven’t tried to fortify the position.
by Frank Madden on Feb 20, 2012 5:11 PM CST up reply actions
Bucks to get about 8-10 ahead midway through the last
only to watch Skiles keep the 5 same guys in for the entire period and lose by about 6.
Would that be
Deja vu alll over again all over again?
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian
I was going to say that hopefully Leuer can avoid getting in foul trouble early tonight
Then I remembered he’s going up against Howard, so that’s likely asking too much.
A really high-arcing shot
In this case, to avoid having Howard swat it…

Ever heard of Chuck Person?

Interesting in the New York article
That Jacob posted with the hilights that Jax is mostly saying that he’s unhappy because he wants to play for a contender. While that seems obvious, why is it the first I have heard of that? Damage control?
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian
Well, I'd say the context is important
After every game it seems reporters walk over Jax, ask him if he’s happy with the situation and then listen to him hold court on his sad plight for 10 minutes. I’m sure Jax has blathered about every possible excuse and issue at this point….
by Frank Madden on Feb 20, 2012 7:22 PM CST up reply actions
Yeah
I think Jackson complaining kind of stopped being major news.
by Jacob Grinyer on Feb 20, 2012 7:23 PM CST up reply actions
I think it’s embarrassing Skiles is playing him at all at this point…I mean, Skiles knows that Jax is smack-talking him after every game right? Why play a bad player at all in that scenario?

Agreed
I’d duct tape his arse to the bench
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian
Appeasement?
(That apparently isn’t working)

Maybe appeasing another player?
Hmmmmmmm. If that’s the case it’s not working well either
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian
Seems to be cross purposes
If you want to go to a contender but are also looking for an extension so I’d say yeah Frank you hit the nail on the head.
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian
Four point play by Brandon, lots of Dwight dunks.

Wow, Larry. I get the temptation to touch a ball on the rim, but knocking a teammates’ shot out of the basket from underneath? Come on now.
Anyone think Sanders
Can be like Harvey Catchings?
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian
I refuse to compare Sanders to anyone with the word “Catch” in their name.

LOL good point

Harvey Catchings played for a few years with the Bucks as a 2nd/3rd centre
Was a really good shotblocker and not much else.
Career in 18 mpg, 3 points, 5 boards and 1.7 blocks on 43% shooting
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian

How good of a passer is Mike Dunleavy? Even Larry can catch his dishes.

I don't know
I think Davis has been blinking on the last few possessions but I’m not sure.

Sanders
Larry Sanders got some Ervin Johnson type hands. Agree?

Tons of stickum

I see on the box score that Howard has had 0 blocks and has been blocked twice...
Who got the blocks on Howard?
Sanders blocked his three point attempt at the first quarter buzzer
Can’t remember the other one…I missed the first few minutes.

Time to play
“Stop Dwight Howard when he catches the ball deep in the paint with out fouling him”! (Rolls right off the tongue, I know)
Has Skiles realized something about Brockman
That we all kind of knew?
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian
Well he’s been playing him lately, so I don’t know what you mean :)

I meant not tonight
I thought he would have got some burn against Howard but I’m glad he’s not
"He always plays like he's a pit bull that hasn't been fed in about a year and that you've got pork chops in your pockets and that's the basketball." Of course, he's Canadian
Brandon really isn’t a good passer. For that matter, I don’t think Livingston is all that good either.
I think Dun’s the best and it’s not even close. Beno is solid.

Paul Pressey-ish?

It'd be nice if Brandon made open jumpers
It’s like openness is completely immaterial to his making shots.

But I think that’s a big if…

Drew Gooden would be redundant…

There it is again ..
Howard showing double team a lot.
I like seeing Liv get minutes at PG
Posting up other PGs really brings a different dimension to the game—usually he’s been doing it against SGs this season, where he doesn’t have the size advantage.

The only sub Skiles is ever willing to make is to bring an ineffective Jennings back late in the game.
