S-Jax for Marvin Williams?

First Fanpost ever, new Bucks fan here!

Former No. 2 pick for the ATL Hawks just stated he would like a trade from his team. Williams is a talented 6' 9" SF/PF that can stretch the defense and has a good drive game as well as a good free throw shooter. He says he would like to go to a team that would provide an increased offensive role for him.

The guy is 24 years old(!) and makes about $8 million for the next 2 years - same as Jax. This This could be a good trade to get younger while putting better pieces around Jennings. Bringing about a "youth movement" with young veterans. so what do you guys think?

I don't think Atlanta makes this deal but...........

He’s got a PO at 7.5 for 2013/14 so I’d pass….per 36s at 13/6 over his career doesn’t do much of anything else. I’d rather roll the dice with Tobias because Marvin can’t play PF imo.

They've got just enough talent and skill that teams will keep signing them and hoping they put the pieces together, until all of a sudden eight years have passed and they're John Salmons.

Agreed

No way Atlanta wants Jackson who is 8 years older. Marvin could use a change, but he would have to start at 3 where we have Dunleavy, Delfino and Harris. He’s also injury prone.

No thanks.

To me, he’s the perfect example of “athlete” not “basket ball player”

I’d be willing to give up Jax for just about anything – but if Williams is bitching while on a PO team, how’s he gonna respond to Skiles not giving him the mpg he wants on a bottom-feeder like the Bucks?

by victor s on Feb 21, 2012 6:39 PM CST reply actions

No-brainer to me.

If Jax were moveable he’d already be gone, so the possibility of getting anyone who can play at all is enough for me. Marvin’s deal is unattractive but he can still play.

Either way, I don’t think Atlanta would do this deal given they’re already struggling to get Marvin minutes and have McGrady complaining about minutes as-is. Jax is a bigger complainer than both of those guys….

off-topic, but:

Bucks get year of Love at PF and Darko to be long term backup C
Wolves get Gooden, 1 year of Ilyasova & Delfino

Basically swapping 3 years of Darko for 4 years of Gooden

by swilldog on Feb 22, 2012 12:10 PM CST reply actions

ESPN doesn't work for me here

But is the proposal Love and Darko for Gooden, Sova and Delfino?

Love just signed an extension too.

They’re building around Love and Rubio—don’t see them trading KL for anything less than a superstar. I’m going to say that Ersan and Gooden don’t count…

Going out on a limb a bit aren't you Frank?

well there ya go, then

Trade Machine still has Love at 1 year left on contract. Nice thing ESPN isn’t bothering to update the thing. :-P

Assuming he wasn’t signed, then a 1 year awesome rental in exchange for two other 1 year pretty good rentals isn’t that big of a stretch. According to the (admittedly debatable) formula used, the Trade Machine actually projected a +3 game differential for the TWolves, zero change for the Bucks.

But with the added revelation that Love signed a 4 year extension, fully agree that this dog won’t hunt.

what ive noticed during playing with the trade machine

alot of key 2nd tier players on presumably active market teams are unavailable to trade until March 1st (see: Lakers/Mavs/Orlando)

I don’t expect to see anything crazy happening until then, but definitely anticipate some serious movement in the two weeks leading up to the deadline

Lots of teams in the West are close

Which will be buyers and which will be sellers?

Sorry for hijacking your thread here.

But it’s Jax related. Would you trade Jax and your 2012 1st round pick (top 13 protected) for Wesley Matthews?

It works in the trade machine: http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=6n3j8p8

The smarter you are, the more likely you are to be tripping balls at any given moment.

absolutely

being him home. hes been dying for minutes since gerald wallace came to town

by Charlie_Buckets on Feb 22, 2012 10:42 PM CST up reply actions

If I was the Blazers GM I'd do it in a heartbeat.

We need to blow it up, and it would be sweet of us to sent Matthews to his hometown where he grew up and played college ball.

As long as the pick is protected

That is a good great fantastic stupendous beyond belief trade for the Bucks, not so sure on the other side tho

Gonna try a trade of my own.

Hamilton is out indefinitely for the Bulls, and Jax is good when motivated, but just wondering here:

http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=7hlncsg

Bulls are playing for the Championship this year, and Utah gets Jennings. I think we could pry 1st and 2nd round picks from either team in this trade. Bucks get a nice rookie, save a little bit of money and can hopefully do a fast rebuild through this years draft in this trade.

I would just wonder

Why the Bulls make that deal, Utah and Milwaukee I can see.

Right

The Bulls give up two of their shooting guards for a non productive headache just to convenience their divisional foe.

by toasterrebound on Feb 24, 2012 7:42 PM CST up reply actions

Only deal that works

Salary wise, age wise and needs wise for both teams is for Okur from New Jersey. He currently has a back injury with no definite time for his return, but I think they should do it anyway as long as Jax is a non factor.

Actually Okur makes one mil more

But it’s worth the gamble, he’s a Bogut with range. Throw in Brockman to even it up lol.
