I bought Warriors season tickets 6 years ago almost entirely because of Monta. I was sitting at home and he did this to Barbosa and I started running around my apartment in excitement. Then I was like "I live 30 minutes away from the Oracle Arena, why am I not at this game?" The next day at work I convinced a buddy to go in with me and we got season tickets and have had them ever since. Monta is definitely gonna hoist some deep, contested jumpers that will make you scratch your head, but he is also going to give his all every night and make some amazing plays that will cause you to jump out of your seat and possibly pull a muscle because you really shouldn't be moving that quickly in the first place. I was so bummed when the trade first happened, and I still am, but I'm also looking forward to seeing him entertain a brand new fan base. I really think Milwaukee will embrace Monta (get on a first name basis with this guy, Monta is a way cooler name than Ellis). Curry was always the golden child from the moment he got here and then we drafted Monta's heir apparent at the 2 guard in Klay Thompson, so the writing has been on the wall for a while even though I was trying so hard to ignore it.
I wasn't going to go to another Warrior game for a while because I just had knee surgery, but there's absolutely no way I'm missing this game tonight. When Monta gets introduced (you guys think Skiles starts him right away?) I'm going to make sure I do everything I can to ensure he gets the ovation he deserves, which won't be hard. My emotions are going to be running wild all night.
I bought League Pass as soon as the trade happened and watched the game against the Cavs Wednesday night. Pretty impressive stuff, 38 assists is no joke. I did not know that Sidney Moncrief was coaching over there. He was a coach with the Warriors a few years back and when I saw him it made me think of this postgame interview he did with Monta cause they are 2 of the 9 guards who have shot over 60% for a month (at the time anyway) in the NBA. Can't wait to watch some Buck's playoff basketball in May. Haven't looked at the schedule yet, any games coming up against the Knicks? Those will be big ones.
