Bucks exercise team options for Brandon Knight and John Henson

Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports

In a real no-brainer, General Manager John Hammond announced that the team will be picking up Brandon Knight's fourth year and John Henson's third year team options, keeping them around for at least next season.

The Bucks aren't wasting any time hitching their wagon to their young, promising crop of players. As expected, John Hammond announced today that the team will exercise their 14/15 team options for both Brandon Knight and John Henson. Knight will be set to make $3.7 million in 2014-15 and Henson will make just under $1.99 million, this following Larry Sanders's four-year, $44 million dollar extension signed earlier this offseason. Knight will be eligible for an extension starting next summer and will otherwise hit restricted free agency in 2015. The Bucks had until October 31 to make a decision on both players' team options.

Henson, 22, appeared in only 63 games last season but was surprisingly productive in posting per-36 minute numbers of 16.5 points, 12.9 rebounds, and just under 2.0 blocks. With his role expected to increase, locking Henson down for at least next season was about as sure a thing as there can be for the Bucks these days.

Knight, 21, was brought over from Detroit in the Brandon Jennings trade along with Khris Middleton and Viacheslav Kravtsov to assume the bulk of the point guard duties. In his brief time in Milwaukee, Knight has posted preseason averages of 8.5 points, 4.8 rebound, an 3.5 assists in only 22.5 minutes a contest.
