Giannis's last blog for his upcoming match against the other two Greeks in the league, Nick Kalathes and Kostas Koufos.
For those of you following closely the NBA back in Greece, and I know there's a lot of you, should be aware that the next game for the Bucks is against the Grizzlies. In the US this match might not mean a lot, but for Greek basketball I believe that it is very important.
For the first time I will play against other Greeks, Kosta Koufo and Nick Kalathe, and I think that it will be a very important night. I believe something like this has never happened before, for two Greeks to be on the floors as starters, me and Koufos.
I can't wait to meet them up close, before the game, when I will step out earlier for some shots. Both have done something I want to do myself at one point, they have worn the colors of the men's national team.
This game is important for all the Greek youngsters that play basketball and dream of coming to the NBA at some point. Even though Greece has been one of the powers in World and European basketball, it hasn't, so far, accomplished to have a permanent presence in the NBA, as it happens with a lot of other countries like Spain, France, russia, and Italy.
This has more to do with serendipity than with the talent of the Greek basketball player. Besides, some of the greatest European basketball players are Greek. I am condident that the presence of three Greeks in one NBA game will be prime motive for all that play basketball in Greece, and I am very proud of this.
As I wrote in my earlier blog, I am certain that more Greeks will come to the NBA in the coming years. However, I would like the next Greek to be my brother Thanassis, who is now in the D-League and trying constantly for the best!
In general, until the end of the month, we have a very heavy schedule with the Bucks, since in 22 days we will play 11 games, six of which are away from Milwaukee.
For me, this rate of games is unprecedented, but at the same time I am learning new things everyday, about the NBA, basketball, and life. I am grateful for this.
I want to thank you once more for all the messages you are sending me on my profile in Facebook and Instagram. I am reading as many as I can.
Be well and watch the Bucks!
