New and Familiar Faces. Plenty of big names joined the Chicago Bulls this offseason, including first-round draft pick Doug McDermott, free-agent acquisition Pau Gasol, and former draft-and-stash asset Nikola Mirotic. But once again, the player Bulls fans are most excited to see make his return is Derrick Rose. He's played just 14 minutes in each of Chicago's two preseason games so far, but his work with Team USA in the FIBA Worlds at least showed that's he's reasonably healthy, if still pretty rusty. Rose's return is key to the Bulls mounting an effective challenge for the Eastern Conference crown.

Rotation Roundup. The starting lineups have been a crapshoot, but through two games the minute distribution looks about how we hoped. The top five players in total preseason minutes played so far are Jabari Parker, Brandon Knight, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Larry Sanders, and Khris Middleton. Not much to complain about there. It's surely difficult to establish much in the way of continuity on the roster with roles changing every night, but experimentation is the name of the game this preseason (and probably a good chuck of the regular season). There have been a fair number of random injuries, illnesses, and absences to work around, but Milwaukee has at least managed to get the most important players out on the court as much as possible.
Injury Updates. With regard to those injuries, Johnny O'Bryant reportedly suffered a knee sprain in Thursday's game. He's expected to see a doctor today. Jim Paschke, speaking in a video report for Bucks.com, said that Ersan Ilyasova returned to practice on Friday. He also caught up with Jason Kidd for his take on the team's first two preseason games.
Well they're still learning a new system on both sides of the ball, but I think that the nice thing is playing back to back, starting a whole other group, and getting off to a really good start...just shows that those 5 that were out there were locked in.
Kidd says that while the substitutions are obviously different than they'll be during the regular season, he's still working a process in the hopes of building trust between the players.
