Giannis Antetkounmpo's second day at the FIBA World Cup wasn't as memorable as his first, but don't expect him to be too concerned as long as the Greeks keep winning.
After his 11-point debut against Senegal on Saturday, Giannis had a relatively quiet day off the bench on Sunday (14 minutes, 0/3 fg, 3/4 ft, 3 pts, 6 rebs), but the Greeks stayed perfect in the Group D standings (2-0) with an 82-70 win over Andray Blatche (6/18 fg, 21 pts, 14 rebs) and the Philippines.
Giannis didn't record an official shot inside the arc on Sunday--continuing the opportunistic approach we saw on Saturday--and instead settled for three missed spot-up threes in addition to a pair of trips to the foul line. One of those trips came after a flagrant foul near midcourt, as Giannis took a heavy hit just after improvising a ridiculous around-the-back bounce pass to a streaking teammate.
Greece takes on Puerto Rico Monday afternoon at 1 pm Central, followed by an off day on Tuesday before closing group play with a back-to-back against Croatia and Argentina.
