Nuggets fan here to gauge OJ Mayo trade value

Hello Bucks fans! How are things? I recently saw the young core rankings, so congratulations on being the top squad in that regard. Nuggets fans hold Khris Middleton in extremely high regard and we would have loved to pry him away from you guys. You did the smart thing, however, and locked him up long term.

I come instead to ask about OJ Mayo. With the recent trade for Vasquez, the drafting of Vaughn, and the presence of many great, young players on the roster, is Mayo's only real role as a veteran presence who can spread the floor off the bench? Right now, I see a logjam and an opportunity for the Bucks to capitalize on an asset, develop its youth, and add a bench big.

Here's my proposal:

Milwaukee receives: Randy Foye and JJ Hickson

Denver receives: OJ Mayo

This trade is so simple, yet accomplishes quite a bit for both teams. For the Nuggets, we are looking to pair our young PG Emmanuel Mudiay with a quality SG who can, you know, shoot. We are desperate for floor spacing and a guy that can take some pressure off of his shoulders in the offensive department. Mayo is in a position where he might struggle to get 20 minutes per game for Milwaukee, but for Denver, he would be the opening night starter and help open up the floor for Mudiay and others to operate inside.

As for the Bucks, they acquire two vets, each with a quality skill they could specialize in on a loaded roster. Neither needs extensive time, but when called upon, they would do their jobs well. Randy Foye has the same career 3pt% (very close) to Mayo, just with less usage. On a team that should be playing Middleton a ton while developing Vaughn behind him, Foye could be the veteran sniper that comes off the bench in limited action and knockdown perimeter shots. Hickson isn't well thought of in Denver, but only because he has been put into a starting role way too many times by Brian Shaw (an incompetent coach), especially at Center. Hickson is 6'9, and while you wouldn't like his defense, he brings a solid rebounding and PnR skill set that would help teach the young guys how to operate. I would have him as the 5th big man backing up both PF and C. He's solid injury insurance for either position, while Foye is great insurance at SG.

The best part about this deal, however, is the money aspect. Both teams maintain flexibility given that each contract is expiring, and if either side doesn't like the deal, they can just let the player(s) walk in FA. Protected second round picks could be included as needed, but overall, the deal is incredibly even from my eyes!

What say you Bucks fans?
