Tuesday Bucks Notes

  • Charles Gardner writes that the Bucks are looking forward to coming home. On the road we've seen two blowouts (Orlando and San Antonio) and two losses that were winnable going into the closing minutes (Charlotte and Houston). But the Bucks will now have the benefit of playing five of their next six at the BC, where they are 2-0. Judging by Larry Krystkowiak's comments, you should certainly expect a good effort on Wednesday against the Grizz.

"We're not going to be very good this year if we don't come out with a little bit of a chip on our shoulder and try to play harder," he said after practice Monday. "We're perceived as a finesse team. We'll be exploited if we don't get in a stance and work our tail off.

"I don't know what happened last night. I think it was a little bit of an aberration. Our guys don't feel good about their effort."

  • David Sweet at MSNBC ranks Yi Jianlian at #9 on his list of the most marketable NBA players. Being Chinese has never been so profitable.
    1. Yi Jianlian: He got off to a rocky start when it became clear he had no interest in playing for the Milwaukee Bucks, but the rarity of Chinese players in the NBA and the upcoming Beijing Olympics give the No. 6 draft choice overall a leg up.
  • Ersan Ilyasova continues to struggle in Spain, going scoreless on Saturday in eight minutes of Barcelona's 67-56 win over Leon.
  • Charles Gardner also writes about Jake Voskuhl making the most of some rare minutes in San Antonio. You know it was a long game when Jake's nine minutes were among the Bucks' only highlights.
  • NBA.com takes note of Yi Jianlian's recent performances.

Milwaukee is off to a slow start, but Yi Jianlian continues to impress in his first NBA season. The Bucks’ rookie posted a solid stat line of 13 points, seven rebounds and three blocks as the Bucks fell to 2-4 with Sunday’s 113-88 loss to Tim Duncan and the defending world champion Spurs. The 7-foot forward from China is now averaging 15 points per game over his last four contests. He also has shown he can hang with the league's top big men.

  • Drew Packham at SI ranks Yi third in his weekly rookie rankings.
  • If you didn't like the questions that we had for Jim Paschke, Bucks.com is now letting you ask your own.
