On the Nets: Nets Daily | The Brooklyn Game
Home and home. I won't bother going into too much detail in tonight's preview--we already told you all about the Nets in yesterday's preview, and with the trade deadline just 24 hours away, most of us are a bit distracted by the trade rumormill anyway.
Suffice to say the Bucks were left with a bitter taste in their mouths following yesterday's OT heartbreaker in Brooklyn, as poor decision-making from Brandon Jennings (not fouling while up three in the waning seconds, looking hopeless against the Nets' trap late) and Monta Ellis (TOO MANY JUMPERS!) overshadowed near triple-doubles from both of the Bucks' guards. The loss snapped the Bucks' fairly inexplicable 13-game winning streak over the Nets, who have now won three in a row and sit fourth in the East, a half game ahead of Chicago. Meanwhile, the Bucks dropped to .500 once again and 1.5 games behind Boston for 7th. Milwaukee's lead on 9th seeded Philly remains at 3.5 games.
SANDERS! The good news from last night: Larry Sanders is back and doing Larry Sanders-like things. Despite early foul troubles against the impressive Brook Lopez, Sanders found his rhythm as the game went on (14 pts, 8 rebs, 6 blk in 27 minutes), controlled the paint for long stretches and put the Bucks in position to win it with his tip-in late in regulation. Alas, Johnson's three tied it seconds later and the Nets won it on Johnson's buzzer-beating jumper in OT, but Sanders did his part with some excellent D in the overtime period on Lopez (6/17 fg, 19 pts).
Brandon goes off. Jennings scored 16 of his 34 points in (of course) the third quarter and finished 13/26 from the field, which is depressingly just the second time in the last nine games that he's hit better than 38% of his shots from the field.
