The Bucks announced their 2013 summer league roster this week, with second year big man John Henson headlining a group that will also feature second round pick Nate Wolters, third-year big man Gustavo Ayon and point guard Ish Smith. Former Mavericks first rounder Dominique Jones is among the free agent inclusions, with former Marquette guard Junior Cadougan and Wisconsin swingman Mike Bruesewitz also joining the Bucks in Vegas.
While Henson's inclusion is mostly just a tune-up for what's expected to be an expanded rotation role this coming season, the other three roster players have more to play for. Wolters and Smith figure to battle for reserve guard minutes this fall, while Ayon's $1.5 million deal is technically non-guaranteed through July 25.
The Bucks kick off their Vegas schedule on Saturday, July 13 vs. Denver, followed by the Pelicans on Sunday and the Warriors on Tuesday, July 16. The remainder of the Vegas schedule will for the first time be a single-elimination tournament culminating in a completely irrelevant championship game on Monday, July 22, though losers in the first round will get a consolation game to assure each team plays at least five times.
The most notable absence in Vegas will be 15th overall pick Giannis Antetokounmpo, who will be playing with the Greek team at the Under-20 European Championships. Greece's schedule starts on July 10 against Serbia, the first of four games in four days of group play.
