A year ago, expectations couldn't have been lower for Giannis Antetokounmpo.
But twelve months after his giant strides led him from Greece's second division to the bright lights of the NBA, Antetokounmpo has graduated from long-limbed oddity to one of the league's consensus breakthrough candidates. Not that his sense of humor has changed one bit.

Whether the 19-year-old is actually ready for it? Well, that remains to be seen. A strong showing in Vegas did little to dissuade Bucks fans from their star-crossed daydreams, while the first two preseason games have seen Antetokounmpo doing a little bit of everything on both sides of the ball. So whether he starts or comes off the bench, Giannis seems ready to make the most of his opportunities--and that Milwaukee is the perfect place for him to do it. From a Vice Sports video profile from earlier this week (above):
"I like that it's quiet, you know, because this is a place that you can get better because you don't have many distractions. So I think I was meant to be here, you know. And I love being here, and I think it's a place that's going to make me great."
Fingers crossed, Giannis.
