On the Heat: Hot Hot Hoops | Heat Index
MIA Heat? Dwyane Wade missed Friday's 110-78 bludgeoning of the Pistons with a sore hamstring that flared up in Indiana on Wednesday, leaving his participation tonight in doubt.
"It didn't loosen up and I was still feeling pain in it," Wade said. "It isn't even that I don't want to push it. I can't."
No one likes losing a guy averaging 19/5/5 on awesome shooting efficiency (59% true shooting), especially with fellow shooting guard Ray Allen also expected to be out with a virus and starting point guard questionable due to a quad injury. But it's all a bit more tolerable when you have a four-time MVP to pick up the slack, which is what LeBron James did in Detroit with his first triple-double of the season.
For more on the Heat, check out the Q&A we did with Kevin Kraczkowski of Hot Hot Hoops earlier today.
Injured deer. It's safe to assume Brandon Knight and Ramon Sessions will start in the backcourt for the Bucks tonight, but who will be available to spell them off the Bucks' bench? Via Charles Gardner:
"That's a really good question," Bucks coach Larry Drew said of his available depth off the bench. "Hopefully O.J. will be ready to play on Saturday.
"If he's not able to play and Giannis is not able to play, we're probably down to one perimeter (player) on the bench. And that's the kid we just signed on the 10-day contract."
Mayo missed Thursday's win over the Lakers due to an ankle injury picked up against the Clippers on Tuesday, while Giannis exited the Laker game after turning his ankle in the second half. Though he had wrist issues in February and fell awkwardly on his back on New Year's Eve in L.A., Giannis hasn't missed a game due to injury all season and claimed afterwards that he'd never even turned his ankle before. There shouldn't be any rush to get him on the court before he's ready, but hopefully it's sooner rather than later.
UPDATE: While Mayo is out, Giannis will suit up--but it's not clear how much he'll be able to play. Early reports suggested Giannis would likely be held out, but it sounds like he talked his way onto the active roster.
Larry Drew says Giannis is still having trouble putting weight on his ankle and cutting. Likely to make the trip. #Bucks
