Belling: Tribes behind Hard Rock plan will offer $200 million to arena

30

"I have learned the tribes proposing to develop the Hard Rock Casino in Kenosha will offer $200 million to aid in the construction of a new downtown Milwaukee arena, if Governor Walker reverses his earlier rejection of the casino plan. The Menomonie tribe of Wisconsin and Seminole of Florida will, according to sources, offer the money if the state accepts the earlier proposed compact agreement reached by the tribe and state negotiators. Governor Walker rejected that deal three weeks ago, saying the state was at risk of losing hundreds of millions of dollars if the Potawatomi tribe was reimbursed for state payments because of the new competition in Kenosha."
