After learning yesterady that the Bucks arena proposal would be coming to a vote sometime today, people have been anxiously waiting to hear the results of the Senate's vote. With two senators absent today, the vote needed to get 16 votes to pass. Well, the results are in.
With 21 votes in favor of the deal, the bill has passed the senate. There were 10 votes against it.
From here the bill heads to the Assembly. It's another step in the long process for keeping the Bucks here, but this is a good day.
Here is the following statement from Bucks President Peter Feigin on the vote:
"Today's vote is a significant step forward in our collective effort to build a new sports and entertainment district in Wisconsin. We appreciate the bipartisan leadership in Madison for bringing this transformative partnership one step closer to reality. We're optimistic that this financing package will receive support in the Assembly and look forward to working with state, county and city officials."
