Giannis Antetokounmpo and his Greek teammates continued their EuroBasket preparations on Friday, looking much improved as they downed Bosnia 78-60 in exhibition play in Istanbul. Building on his 15-point performance in last week's head-scratching loss to Belgium, Giannis came off the bench to hit his first four shots en route to 13 points, three rebounds and three blocks in just over 14 minutes of action.
With Giannis missing some practice time early in the week with a minor injury, Greek coach Fotios Katsikaris opted to start Kostas Papanikolaou and Georgios Printezis at the forward spots, but it didn't take long for Antetokounmpo to make his presence felt. He announced his arrival by slicing to the basket for a layup and burying a corner three in quick succession, finishing the first half with a game-high 11 points. The only real downside was a 2/5 night from the foul line, but so it goes.
For their troubles, Greece next play at 11 am CT on Saturday against tournament host Turkey, which downed Tunisia 76-50 behind (you guessed it) Ersan Ilyasova's 16 points and nine boards on Friday.
