PODCAST: Explaining how and why we root for the Bucks and watch the NBA

New, comments

It's not always easy being a Bucks fan, but we continue to watch and passionately follow the team. In this podcast episode, we explore the question of what we root for and why we watch so much NBA basketball through the lens of the Bucks.

Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

Although the season isn't going as planned for the Milwaukee Bucks, our community of fans continues to follow the NBA game through the lens of the Bucks with a level of passion that outstrips the team's performance on the floor. That's a sentence that could have been written at nearly any point over the 20 years (at least), so it raises an interesting question: Why do we watch the Bucks so closely?

What is it that we root for when we watch a Bucks game? Jabari Parker and Giannis Antetokounmpo are primary factors at this point in time. It used to be guys like Brandon Jennings, Andrew Bogut and Larry Sanders that captured our imagination. The hope of developing greatness is only part of the equation, however. There's a deeper communal connection and a broader appreciation for the game that binds us to our beloved Bucks.

In this episode of the podcast, Steve, Frank and Eric explore their Bucks fandom and try to articulate how and why they follow the Bucks so closely. As we enter 2016 and the team teeters on the edge of a lost season, take the opportunity to articulate your own reasons for why you will continue to watch and stay involved. It's a fascinating topic that certainly deserves thoughtful consideration, so take a listen to our episode posted below and let us know your reasons in the comments. Enjoy!
