With 50% and 45% (respectively) of the votes, Matthew Dellavedova and Thon Maker have been named the fifth and fourth most valuable Bucks!
Just barely edging out the younger Aussie, Dellavedova was one of the less-hyped signings during the NBA summer, but has already demonstrated that he can positively impact the game. Eric and Frank have gone at length on the Locked On Bucks podcast on how much better the team looks when Delly is on the floor while still not interfering with Point Giannis. A plus shooter and plus defender, Delly was the type of player that the Bucks sorely needed, and should be a significant contributor for the foreseeable future.
On the other side of the Duo from Down Under, Thon Maker is one of the bigger mysteries in the NBA. The 7'1" rookie has potential as high as his standing reach, but we still don't know what to make of him. His performance in Summer League was encouraging, but his appearances in the pre-season have been less-than-exciting. Not surprising for any rookie, Thon seems to have no idea how to apply his considerable athleticism to actual basketball things...yet. If and when he ever does, watch out!
And then there were three...who just so happen to be the three most important players on the team.
(Reminder: we're counting down the most valuable players from a roster-building perspective, not just who is going to be the best player next year. So put on your NBA GM hat and consider all the key factors that go into a player's value: past productivity, future potential, contract, age, personality, etc. So to start, pick the player you think is least valuable -- in other words, if the NBA had an expansion draft, who would be the first Bucks player you'd leave unprotected?)
