Bucks ready to put on show at Sunday open scrimmage

NBA: Chicago Bulls at Milwaukee Bucks Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Ready or not, here we go.

Fresh off four days of training camp in Madison, the Milwaukee Bucks will play actual basketball on Sunday at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

No, it doesn’t count, not even in an exhibition kind of way. But the team’s annual open scrimmage on Sunday will be our first look at year three of the Jason Kidd Era, year two of Point Giannis and year one of Malcolm Brogdon and (wrist injury permitting) Thon Maker. The free scrimmage (get your tickets here) is expected to run from 12:30 to 1:30 and will be followed by a fan fest featuring autographs and photographs with players, shooting on the court, etc.

News & Notes:

  • Maker update. No word yet on whether Maker will participate after hurting his wrist in practice on Wednesday, though he said on Friday he expected to be “back in a few days.
  • Starters. Kidd’s decision to give Rashad Vaughn the first crack at replacing Khris Middleton in the starting five was one of the big talking points of the week, so you’d guess that we’ll see him play a prominent role on Sunday. Not that one scrimmage will tell us much about the future, but it’d be nice to see Vaughn bury some threes and look a bit better on defense, eh?
