Player Ranks: Center

My ranks of the top centers in the league, split into tiers. Center is definitely a deep position, though Cousins is probably the only real stud, with KAT on the way there.

One thing I really feel about players (which mainly just applies to C's), is that if they shoot a lot enough FT% that they can be hacked or have to be benched at the end of halves, that significantly hurts their value. You gotta be able to be on the court for you team in crunch time.

Let me know what you think.

TIER 1:

1. Cousins - dominant offensively, good rebounder, can be great defensively when he gives effort

TIER 2:

2. Marc Gasol - injuries preventing him from joining Cousins in the first tier

3. Horford - super versatile, good at everything, but probably not in the top tier

TIER 3:

4. Towns - in another year, he'll probably be Tier 1

5. Deandre Jordan - more than solid defensively, rebounding, and a devastating lob finisher

6. Drummond - great defender and rebounder, but his FT shooting, along with Jordan's, really hurt their teams

7. Pau - has lost several steps with age, but he has become a smart defender and is still elite offensively; could be really interesting on the Spurs, I wish he'd been there last year

8. Valanciunas - the injury during the playoffs was a shame, bc he was really staking his claim to be here; without Biyombo to take minutes, I think he'll look great this season

TIER 4:

9. Whiteside - good defender and rebounder, great shot blocker but can get out of position

10. Gobert - elite defender and great rebounder; he'll be higher with another strong season

11. Howard - has fallen off significantly from where he used to be, but I'm interested to see how he'll fare next to Millsap

12. Gortat - good at everything, smart, hard working, he's a guy I wouldn't mind having as our starter
