The Milwaukee Bucks’ goal of “owning the future” remains a work in progress, but there’s little doubt that the franchise has come a long way since the 15-win wreckage of the 13/14 campaign.
Moreover, the on-court changes have been dwarfed by the seismic shifts seen off the court, with a new ownership group leading a radical makeover of Milwaukee’s NBA team. In just two years, we’ve seen a new arena deal, new jerseys, new offices and a raft of new hires in both the basketball operations and business side. Getting a first row seat of it all has been Bucks Chief Marketing Officer Dustin Godsey, who joined the team in 2012 as Director of Marketing before subsequent promotions to VP of Marketing and now CMO. On Wednesday night, Dustin joined us to talk about a wide range of topics, including what it means to run the marketing for an NBA team, the massive changes he’s seen over the past four years, and the emotional roller-coaster of winning and losing with an NBA team. Part one is below and part two will run tomorrow.
