Today was supposed to be the day we ran our Locked on Pistons crossover podcast with Dan Feldman, but seeing as Tuesday was also GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO SIGNING DAY, our podcast today naturally begins with a quick recap of the victory lap that went down Tuesday afternoon in Milwaukee (before eventually getting to those pesky Pistons):

Giannis kicked off the presser by reading a series of thank yous, starting with his family but saving a special acknowledgment for the man who drafted him: Bucks GM John Hammond. Time to take a trip down memory lane!

It’s hard to believe it’s only been three years since Giannis landed in Milwaukee as a fresh-faced 18-year-old; even those of us who thought he was going to be special weren’t expecting a $100 million contract by the tender age of 21. He’s the first 21-year-old to snag a nine-figure contract since Kevin Garnett landed a six-year, $126 million deal way back in 1997, and his deal also eclipses Michael Redd’s six-year, $91 million deal as the richest in Bucks franchise history. He didn’t have to celebrate alone, either, as Khris Middleton, Jabari Parker, Greg Monroe, and Thon Maker were among his teammates in attendance at the presser.

Stay tuned -- we’ll have much more on the presser and the signing the rest of this week.
