Brew Hoop Graveyard Shift: October 3rd, 2017

[witch cackle]

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Today’s (on)topic: NBA All-Star Game Changes

The All-Star game is doing with the traditional East v. West match-up and going to a school yard style pick ‘em to fill out the roster. The NHL did this earlier in the decade and they even had a draft selection show which meant more $$$ from advertisers, so expect the selection show to be drawn out and player story lines to be emphasized. I like the idea but I don’t know if it will make me more inclined to watch. I’m interested to see where Giannis Antetokounmpo lands and if any other Bucks join him in the roster pool. It is also really cool for the two teams choose a charity to play for, just a nice way for the league to keep doing their community outreach.

Today’s (on)topic Part 2: Welcome to Brew Hoop, Dakota Schmidt!

We are thrilled to add Dakota to our roster! He must truly love basketball if he is willing to maintain a site (Ridiculous Upside) that revolves around following the D G-League. Welcome to the party indeed - kegs are in the back.

Today’s (off)topic: Favorite Brand of Horror Movies

A trend among horror movies of the past decade has been all about demons possessing people and things as well as zombies swarming local cinemas screens. I definitely feel burnt out of those two categories but let’s recognize that 28 Days Later is a GOAT zombie flick and the first Paranormal Activity had me terrified to go to sleep for weeks. Hollywood needs to bring back some good ole fashioned movies where ghosts are haunting and messing with people just for fun without adding a weird demon tie-in. I feel like we are overdue for a good slasher movie as well.
