Watch Giannis Surprise Unsuspecting Fans with Prank Calls

The Greek Freak punks citizens awaiting public transport

NBA: Detroit Pistons at Milwaukee Bucks Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Giannis Antetokounmpo is no stranger to prank calls. Why it was just two years ago he was plopped in a rookie house during his brief participation in All-Star Weekend to do precisely that. Now, not only has he elevated to a starting status in the All-Star game, but he’s graduated to performing pranks all on his own.

After supposedly “leaking” his cell phone number to the masses on Thursday, many wondered what may be afoot for the Bucks’ star. As it turns out, that wasn’t just an open hotline to offer critiques on his game, but part of a larger more elaborate ruse.

Yesterday, Mountain Dew (best flavor is original Game Fuel btw), released a video showing Giannis about to surprise call several citizens sitting unsuspectingly at a nearby bus stop. He gives them a dial, and his massive frame pops onto a screen where you’d typically seen an injury lawyer’s ad.

What’s delightful about this entire prank is that Giannis doesn’t use the element of surprise to scare people, but instead to engage in lighthearted conversation. An April Fool’s prank should be fun, not frightful, and nothing is more fun than Giannis directing people to do silly things on a bus bench while he cackles in glee. He even gets punked (or X’ed if you preferred the Jamie Kennedy Experiement) himself in the end.

Happy April Fools Day and here’s the full video:
