Brew Hoop Night Shift: May 15th, 2017

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Today’s (on)topic:

I’m torn on this topic. On the one hand, I understand that the NBA is a business, and that ad space on player jerseys is valuable real estate. On the other hand, I understand that NBA jerseys are beautiful and perfect just the way they are, and I don’t need to see a video of Giannis outstretched over the defense for a dunk with a Palermo’s logo in the shot. I do enjoy a good Palermo’s, but that’s not the point! No ads on jerseys!

/old man rant

Today’s (off)topic: trains.

My son is very much into “Thomas, choo-choo train” lately. And while I enjoy an episode of Thomas & Friends as much as the next adult (read: very little), it did bring up a random observation. In the US (at least in Texas, and most of the Midwest), trains are not nearly as prevalent as they used to be, or as they are over in Europe. Why is that? They’re efficient, relatively safe (at least safer than hurtling down the freeway at 80 mph), and don’t require anything of the passengers. What’s the deal?

As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
