The hits just keep on coming! Milwaukee’s very own Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named to the All-NBA Second team as a forward.

Giannis is joined on the Second team by Stephen Curry, Isaiah Thomas, Kevin Durant, and Rudy Gobert. The First team is populated by Russell Westbrook, James Harden, LeBron James, Kawhi Leonard, and Anthony Davis, and the Third team includes John Wall, DeMar DeRozan, Jimmy Butler, Draymond Green, and DeAndre Jordan.

In the second half of his third season, the Point Giannis phenomenon put the league on notice. In his fourth season, Giannis proceeded to set the league ablaze by averaging 22.9 points / 8.8 rebounds / 5.4 assists / 1.9 blocks / 1.6 steals per game. He did this while shooting an eFG% of 54.1, with a usage rate of 28.3%, and ranked 10th in the league in total Win Shares (12.4). On top of all that, Giannis led the Milwaukee Bucks to the 6th seed in the East, and became the first player to ever finish in the top-20 of all major per-game stats period.

Per the NBA, the All-NBA Teams are chosen by a global panel of sportswriters and broadcasters. Voters selected two guards, two forwards and one center for each team, choosing players at the position they play regularly. Players who receive votes at multiple positions were slotted at the position where they received the most votes.

Giannis is the first Milwaukee Buck to make an All-NBA team since Andrew Bogut was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2009-10. He is the first Buck to make the All-NBA Second Team since Sidney Moncrief in 1985-86. No other Bucks received any votes (sorry, Delly) for any of the teams.

If you ask us, this should be the first of many All-NBA Teams that involve Giannis Antetokounmpo, and will eventually become a “ho-hum” award for him.

The league announced the All-NBA First, Second and Third Teams today, and will announce the finalists for other major NBA awards (including MVP, 6MoY, and MIP) on Friday night before Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals. We hope to have more Giannis news for you then!
