We pit opposite ends of the emotional spectrum against one another yesterday, with Moose’s Pictionary video versus Jabari’s post-injury press conference. Today though, we move on to the last of the miscellaneous memories looking at a stellar stint of success and a crushing defeat filled with optimism.
Game Six Comeback against Raptors vs. Giannis’ Player of the Month Award and Milwaukee’s Marvelous March
Game six against Toronto was nearly another embarrassing playoff exit. Milwaukee lost its way early, falling behind by as much as 25 against a Raptors team that looked prepared to lay down the same destruction Milwaukee faced two years earlier against the Bulls in game six. Instead of laying down, the Bucks battled back behind a gargantuan effort from Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The BMO’s energy was palpable, and the crowd seemed to try and will Giannis as he panted in exhaustion at the free throw line in the fourth. He rested for merely a little more than a minute all game, and his will to win nearly forced an improbable game seven. Regardless of the outcome, that second half was an inspiring sequence to cap off the season.
With the season’s outcome looking pessimistic in late February, and their playoff odds longer than Giannis’ limbs, Milwaukee went through a marvelous March that vaulted them back into playoff contention. Much of that success came from an improved performance in the clutch where they emerged from their late game offensive nadir to at least become average. As such, they won the most games in a month for the franchise since the 1970s, and it netted Giannis Antetokounmpo his first player of the month award of his career. Additionally Jason Kidd took home coach of the month honors.
