Every year, the arbiters of the SBNation NBA blog sites gather around the hearth and debate one another to complete a full mock draft for the first round. Due to the prickly front office status for Milwaukee, Brew Hoop brought a steady, firm-handshake stability to the table and select someone for your Milwaukee Bucks. If you’re interested in checking out the entire mock draft, head over to Ridiculous Upside where they’re updating it with new team selections all day long.
With the 17th pick in the NBA Draft, Brew Hoop selected Harry Giles from Duke for the Milwaukee Bucks. Here was our rationale:
Giles injury history raises immediate question marks, particularly considering Milwaukee already hosts another ACL-challenged Blue Devil on their roster, but there's no point in reaching for a guard just to fit a need. The draft remains the Bucks best chance to add a marquee talent, and it's worth taking a chance on someone once considered a consensus number one pick. Giles can provide some frontcourt insurance if Greg Monroe and Spencer Hawes opt out this summer, and he wouldn't be asked to contribute immediately. His stretchy, athletic game fits well with Milwaukee's roster and his rebounding prowess, while potentially not translatable immediately in the big leagues, would be a welcome boon to a team that continues to struggle in that aspect.
You can see the whole post here, where the draftniks at Ridiculous Upside are providing their own analysis for our pick. Coincidentally, our Brew Hoop Community Draft Board concluded today and you, dear readers, happened to agree with this very selection.
