Malcolm Brogdon Named to NBA All-Rookie First Team

The Prez grades out among the top of his class

On the day we discover whether Malcolm Brogdon will become Rookie of the Year for this past season, The President has already taken home the distinction of joining the NBA All-Rookie First Team. The other members flanking the Bucks point guard include Joel Embiid, Dario Saric, Willy Hernangomez and Buddy Hield.

The former two Philadelphia 76ers are Brogdon’s competition for the ROY at tonight's NBA Awards. Considering he was already considered one of the top three players in his class, this honor was basically a foregone conclusion. Brogdon also joins Giannis Antetokounmpo as another Buck earning leaguewide acclaim today, after Giannis was named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team.

For Brogdon, this is a validation of the work that went into his game since being passed over 35 times in last year’s draft. He seems like someone where individual accolades mean less than gum, but it's a nice thing organizationally that one of their second-rounders finally amounted to a modicum of success rather than becoming a punching bag.

In the meantime, we will await tonight's awards show to see if Brogdon will have another feather in his cap to bookend his fabulous rookie year.
