Brew Hoop Night Shift: July 5th, 2017

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Today’s (on)topic: The Players’ Tribune goodbye

Another high profile free agency decision, another sayonara article on The Players’ Tribune. We have seen this in the NBA with Kevin Durant and most recently, Gordon Hayward. This isn’t just exclusive to high profile free agents either. College athletes have taken to penning farewells to their universities before heading for the professional ranks as well. A recent non-NBA example is Carolina Hurricanes’ netminder, Scott Darling, saying farewell to the Chicago Blackhawks (this one is not as formulaic and worth a read). What do we think of the inevitable farewell articles? Have they become too predictable? Do you even read them?

Go read Jabari Parker‘s article about Milwaukee for the first or maybe upteenth time.

Today’s (off)topic: Movie aliens

With yesterday being Independence Day I had a discussion with a friend about great movie aliens. We couldn’t come up with a consensus on what really makes a movie alien great. Take a vote in the poll below on your favorite! I’m giving an honorable mention slot to TV alien, Alf.
