We started the ranking of the 2017-2018 Bucks roster yesterday to decide the most valuable player on the Milwaukee Bucks. The first player eliminated is never the best title, but someone has to take it. This year that dubious honor goes to Gary Payton II who joined the team late last season. GP2, like his dad, has defensive skills to make it in the league. However, a poor 3-point shot makes it difficult to keep a player like him on this roster. That, combined with his non-guaranteed contract and the possibility that he might not be on the team come opening day were tough to overlook. One positive thing to mention before putting him on the row boat is he does seem to spend a lot of time at the new training center.
No one is enjoying the amenities of the new training center more than GPII

Once again, here’s a reminder that this ranking isn’t just based on who is the best/most talented player, but should be looked through the lens of roster building. Factors include: player talent, contract situation, age, leadership, potential, roster fit, really whatever you think should be the primary factors when evaluating an asset on a roster.
