Milwaukee Bucks Roster Ranking 2017: Spencer Hawes is voted off

Man Bun couldn’t help his case

NBA: Milwaukee Bucks at Philadelphia 76ers Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

After surviving round one, Spencer Hawes is the next eliminated player in our annual roster ranking. The Man Bun sits as the third or fourth choice at center (depending on Jason Kidd’s mood) and his one silver lining might be that he has an expiring contract which could be useful as a trade throw-in later in the year. His 3-point propensity served as a useful dancing partner for perimeter pick-and-rolls (*cough* use those for Thon *cough*), but he offered little to no deterrence at the rim besides his height and somewhat similar appearance to the drunken flame lord Thoros of Myr on Game of Thrones.

It’s somewhat surprising Hawes would go this early in the asset ranking considering the aforementioned expiring, cheap $6 million dollar contract as compared to some of the other bloated contracts still left on the roster. Yes, he’s someone who isn’t long for Milwaukee, but he still ate up plenty of minutes last year and will likely have to do so again this year to spell a still-growing Thon Maker. However, the tribe has spoken and we cannot quibble with the masses.

No matter what though, we will always “The Spencer Hawes Game.” Giddy up and yee-Hawes forever.
