Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.
Today’s (on)topic: Hypothetical NBA Transfer Market
I imagined NBA free agency with soccer’s transfer rules, because somehow NBA free agency isn’t chaotic enough https://t.co/eRtCdz6OpG— Mike Prada (@MikePradaSBN) August 31, 2017
This is a nice thought experiment but I really disagree with the Bucks’ hypothetical wheeling and dealing. Where the franchise is right now, there is no way they would sell off Giannis Antetokounmpo. If the Bucks weren’t gearing up to make a run at a Top-4 seed in the East, then yeah I could see how they would sell extremely high and spread the earnings across multiple up and coming players. That isn’t the case and Milwaukee being viewed through the lens of a “feeder team” does not apply now. Maybe the Bucks do not even find themselves in this scenario if the NBA had this transfer market type of player movement, who knows?
Today’s (off)topic: Big Ten Football Season
The Indiana Hoosiers are hosting
the Ohio State Buckeyes tonight in a really bizarre Thursday night, conference clash that is also the first game of the season for both schools. The Big Ten welcomes the supremely annoying head coach, P.J. Fleck, as he leads the god awful Minnesota Golden Gophers down their continued path of sub-par football. Who ya got winning the conference?
As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
