Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.
Today’s (on)topic: Carmelo Anthony headed to Thunder
New York has agreed to a deal to send Carmelo Anthony to OKC for Enes Kanter, Doug McDermott and a draft pick, league sources tell ESPN.

Boy, Sam Presti’s having one hell of a summer. After swindling the Pacers for Paul George, he’s back at it by plucking Carmelo Anthony from the Knicks’ black hole in exchange for an overpaid defensive turnstile, Kyle Korver lite and a 2018 second round pick from Chicago. Whatever you think of Carmelo Anthony, he should be an incredible spot-up weapon for Russell Westbrook to shovel the ball towards. If Melo’s willing to relinquish his ball-hogging ways (which he will have to) this could be a fantastic fit given George’s ability to guard the superior wing and alleviate Melo from that task.
Today’s (off)topic: Star Wars Director Drama
I’m a big Star Wars fan, not like cosplaying convention-going big, but I love watching the movies and can’t wait for the 8th movie this December. There’s been a number of directorial drama stories regarding the franchise lately, the latest being that J.J. Abrams was being brought back aboard to direct the 9th entry. Anyone have any strong feelings or trepidation about his ability to guide that ship home? I think the 7th movie has actually aged more poorly than I thought, so I’m a little dubious, but here’s hoping Rian Johnson’s The Last Jedi can place the franchise as close to the runway as needed for Abrams to land the X-wing.
