It was revealed today that the Bucks reportedly offered up Jabari Parker in a 3 team trade involving the New York Knicks and Houston Rockets. The blockbuster aspect of the deal would be Carmelo Anthony going to the Rockets, but the trade talks have fallen through. I do not know what the Bucks could have received in return from either franchise except for draft picks. Jabari is not worth getting back picks and a mid-tier player, right? My main issue is that this is now the second leak to come out of the front office after a trade has been nixed. The first being the Kyrie Irving rumors and now this has surfaced. I understand that leaks and rumors fuel the NBA off-season, but it’s weird that the two announcements have come after the respective trade talks ended; the Bucks don’t gain any leverage by revealing this info, do they? It’s like when a poker player reveals what hand they fold after making a series of bets and raises.
Today’s (off)topic: Holiday Marketing
How soon is too soon to start marketing for holidays that are coming up on the horizon? Goodwill started their Halloween displays this weekend since it’s the next holiday coming up. It seems like Christmas marketing has overtaken Thanksgiving marketing in stores. Once Halloween passes, the stores transition straight into Christmas. I’m not a fan of the line jumping that Christmas does - it can wait until Black Friday.
