Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.
Tonight’s (on) topic: Preseason Game Eve
After everyone got a taste, albeit a stale one, of basketball back last Saturday, it begins somewhat in earnest tomorrow. At long last, we should finally see Giannis Antetokounmpo back on the court doing the type of Giannis things we all crave. What are your feelings heading into tomorrow’s preseason game? Has this offseason seemed longer or shorter than others?
Giannis expects to play tomorrow in the Bucks' preseason opener. When asked how many people it took to keep him off the court Sat. he said it took four. Trying to be careful with his ankle since there's no need for risk now. If it were up to him he says he'd have scrimmaged Sat.— Matt Velazquez (@Matt_Velazquez) October 2, 2018
For me, I’m just glad to not have to break down theoretical discussions about how the team will look any longer.
Tonight’s (off) topic: Pre-game routines
Did anyone else get supremely nervous when they were younger before a game? As a middling to sub-par athlete in my depressingly short prime, my greatest fear was constantly screwing up the moment a game started. It probably peaked when I once shot from the baseline, only to have a taller man simply leap up and grab the ball before it barely got halfway to the hoop.
I imagine NBA players have gutted all that nervousness from their bodies at this point, but I’m curious if any of you felt that pit in your stomach before a contest got under way.
As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
