Milwaukee is sending Dellavedova, John Henson and a first-round and future second-round pick to Cavs for George Hill, league source tells ESPN. https://t.co/L5vWlxdj8M— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) December 7, 2018
With John Henson (injured) and Matthew Dellavedova (overpaid) on the way out, Jon Horst has found a way to clear up the team’s future salary outlook. However, by attaching a first round pick and a future second round pick, the team is paying quite a premium for the luxury of dumping salary...not to mention shipping out two of the more influential veterans on the roster (even if they don’t figure too strongly into the team’s current rotation).
Cavs taking on money for picks. Sending George Hill to Milwaukee for Matthew Dellavedova & John Henson. Bucks sending Cavs a 1st and a 2nd per sources— Brian Windhorst (@WindhorstESPN) December 7, 2018
On his way back in the deal? George Hill, the point guard Bucks fans clamored for in 2015. Hill is averaging 10.8 points per game this season on .514/.464/.850 shooting, and will slot into the team’s guard rotation nicely. Provided his health keeps up (which is a legitimate question mark) and his defensive execution is sufficient, Hill could be a significant contributor to a Bucks team that has serious expectations for itself.
We will have more on this story soon (and after the matchup against the Golden State Warriors), but we bid a fond farewell to John Henson and Matthew Dellavedova. You might have been expensive, but you will be missed regardless.
UPDATE: Sam Dekker is coming back in the deal! Neat!
Cleveland is also trading Sam Dekker in the deal to Milwaukee, league sources tell ESPN.— Adrian Wojnarowski (@wojespn) December 7, 2018
DELAYED UPDATE: It seems that Sam Dekker is, in fact, not a part of this deal. But Jason Smith is! So, there you go!
