Basketball Hall of Fame finalists and a veggie name debate

Welcome to the Brew Hoop Night Shift. Every evening at 9:00pm (central time), this all-purpose thread goes up, and the comments section is where it’s going down. What Bucks news did we not cover? What topics do you want to break down further? Or is there something non-Bucks that you want to bounce off of one another? Even something non-basketball? This is the place.

Tonight’s (on)topic: Basketball Hall of Fame Finalists

Piggybacking off the media frenzy of All-Star weekend, the Basketball Hall of Fame also announced its finalists for this year’s class earlier today. The HOF, which encompasses both collegiate and pro basketball, has a hodgepodge of different candidates but we’re going to focus on the NBA choices. Any preferences on which ones should get in among Ray Allen, Mo Cheeks, Grant Hill, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash and Chris Webber?

I think we all know there’s likely to be an inherent bias in the section against one candidate in particular, but I’m excited to see if Allen can get in. He’s one of my personal favorite players and his Milwaukee tenure coincided with the best Bucks basketball of the past 25 years. I hope he’s selected, although it’s a matter of when, not if, for him.

Tonight’s (off)topic: Scallions or Green Onions

For anyone who has worked in a grocery store, they may be familiar with the age-old “scallions or green onions” conundrum. Aren’t they the same thing you ask? Indeed, they absolutely are, yet some consumers may ask for one or the other when they’re perusing their grocer’s produce section. Do you have a preference on what name these veggies go by? I hope no one is too passionate about this one...

As a general rule, non-basketball topics are permitted in an open thread, provided that they follow the SB Nation Community Guidelines.
